Hi everyone, I have a bunch of loaded questions I am hoping to get the answers to (as I can't seem to get them anywhere else). =/

I have been married to my husband for almost a year and even before that he has been stationed in Yokosuka, Japan. He finally made E-4 so we are working on all of the paperwork and the overseas screening to get me command sponsored and over there with him as quickly as possible.

On another note, I recently found out I am pregnant, not far along at all, and was wondering how this could affect my overseas screening and granting of command sponsorship. I know I can't fly after 28 weeks or so but that's the only red flag I have run into. With that being said, will the military still pay to move all of my belongings (I moved back home with my parents after college to save money) and pay for my flight, if/when I ever do get command sponsored? I planned on having a baby shower early so I could get all of the essentials I need for the baby before I move overseas.

And on another note, when I got my military id whoever was working messed up my birthday, which read on my military id and my TriCare records as a day after my birthday. In order to see a doctor I need to get this changed, do I just need to go to the id card office and get a new one (what documents do I need to bring?) or is there something else I need to do?

Any help of any of this questions would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you

Kayla

If he was stationed in Japan before you got married, than no the USN will not pay for the move.    It is up to the command when and if your command sponsorship gets approved, if he was just advanced to E4 off this last exam, it could be another year before you are approved.

As for your ID card, take your birth certificate to where you got your ID and they should be able to correct it there.

You an get everything you need for the baby on base at the NEX, or through mail order.  Have a "gift card" only baby shower.

The command sponsorship may be either really fast, or as Angie says, up to a year.  Be patient!

Just a note about getting your ID changed- if you have a power of attorney make sure you bring it! When I first got married they registered me in Deers with my first name split into my first and middle name (I have two names in my first name and they only put the one) and since it didn't match my legal name I couldn't use the insurance at school. Even though they had entered it wrong and I had my passport and birth certificate, they needed to see my POA since my husband was not with me when I went to get it corrected. They may not ask you for it but better safe than sorry :)
