Hi! So my bf was stationed in Great Lakes for boot camp and graduated 2/12...now he's in A School and the problem is I'm not sure where! I assumed Chicago still, but I called his dad today and his dad says he's in Washington state.  Somehow in the great land of internet resource I am seriously missing out on how to look up where a soldier is stationed based on division....he's ship 12 division 084, if that makes a difference at all.  Any idea how to find out WHERE he is? I'd love to book a ticket to A school's graduation but cheyah I'd need a location.  haha.

I have not heard from my son since Jan. 2nd. I've tried calling his cell phone several times and finally sent him a letter with all his mail over 3 weeks ago. I know his cell phone is working but his mailbox is full, so I can't leave a message. According to your message, it doesn't sound like I have much recourse in finding out about how he is. Last I knew, he was in Great Lakes waiting for A school. He did call my parents in February so I was relieved to find out he was still alive and kicking. This is really unlike him. Any suggestions?
Linda
I think rather than unwillingness to help, his dad suffers a case of lack of information; he also said bf was "waiting to graduate" which doesn't make a bit of sense due to the fact that the last time I talked to him, (bf) he was already in A school and had graduated. But if there -are- no A schools in Washington then it would only make sense he's in Chicago?

He's on FB but gets on sporadically, and his friends are as elusive as he is. Poo!
Do you know what rate (job) he went to school for? If you know the school, you can find out where he is. Also, A-school graduation is usually nothing special, an informal affair which normally no one attends except the graduates and occasional family members who live nearby. I personally have never seen "guests" at an A-school graduation.

It sound to me like his dad is telling you where Ron will be stationed after school, Washington state (especially the Seattle area) has a lot of bases and ships.

However, if your boyfriend, his friends and family are being elusive about his location that is not a good sign that he is still interested in a relationship.
I'm not sure of the job he went for. Logic dictates its communications, but that's based on what he'd want to do and not necessarily what he would get. Sucks, I wish I knew that PIR was a bigger deal hahaha, now I regret not knowing or going. But it's all good, leave is soon.

And I appreciate the concerns, but Ron and I are both very independent people. We have never "called each other every day" or anything alluding to dependency on each other and have our own things to take care of. While this may not sound conventional and it's not, we aren't in a position to be especially clingy. I mean I guess we could, but it wouldn't do any good. I have a private school that I teach in, and he is obviously in the military. I have no doubt in our ability to be in a functioning relationship :) I love the relationship, and the lack of communication is in no way unsettling for me; I just wish I knew a bit more about what he was up to, but if either of us weren't sure about the relationship we'd say it bluntly.
a neighbor of mine said that her son is in Washington for his A school. She said that his job is corpsman (medicine). If you google it I am sure it would come up. Anyway, good luck.
The HM "A"(Corpsman) school is located in Great Lakes, IL. Im sure of that. And I also can't think of an "A" school located in washington. Without what job he was going to school for it's pretty hard to figure out where he would be. Talk to his dad again and see if there is more info he knows or try to get ahold of the sailor himself.
You are right Jenny. Emma, are you sure you heard your friend correctly? Either that or she's mistaken/misinformed or misspoke and he is finished with his A school training now and stationed there, but are no A schools located in Washington, only three Naval Bases; Whidbey Island Naval Air Station, the Everett Naval Base and The Bremerton/Bangor/Kitsap Peninsula base.

Just an FYI all: up to now the HM (Hospital Corpsmen) have trained in GL for their intense 14 weeks of A school. As of fall 2010, (I believe, haven't checked the opening status recently) the brand new state of the art training facility in San Antonio Texas will be open not only to our Navy Corpsmen, but also to Army and Air Force Medics as well. :-)

My hubby did attend our son's Corps school graduation (videoed it for me) and it was very enjoyable. Much smaller and not lavish as PIR, but still very nice. Some other loved ones were in attendance too. He is so glad he went! :)
Duh, I forgot to update this (BUSY week) but I talked to Ron and he's in Great Lakes! He's still Master at arms, and I guess cadence caller now hooray! So mostly good news, although I know he's been worked to the bone. His tests are coming up in April, woo! Thank you all for your support.

As a side note, he's as bad as I am with updates, so between the two of us information will probably never make its way here..........
Glad you know where your Sailor is now ronspatricia. I'm just a little confused though: Master at Arms is a leadership position a Recruit holds only during their time in Bootcamp, where they might call cadence etc. You stated that he already graduated with a PIR of 2/12. I had not heard of that position being assigned in A school, and as far as I know, although there IS an actual Master at Arms Navy Rating ( MAA job), the A school training for that usually occurs in either Dam Neck Virginia or Texas. So, again, are you sure you have your facts straight?? Seems that a healthy, growing relationship should be based on a good foundation of strong communication and connection, so I'm wondering.

MusicMom, have you heard from your son yet, it's almost April! He could be done or almost done with A school and planning some leave time soon.
No, it's been 3 months now and I'm pretty concerned. I know he's probably busy, but this is not like him to never call.
To Angie: lol, our relationship is lackadaisical and helter-skelter, "growing" and "healthy" are less of a concern. I've already mentioned that's how we both are as people so if I'm not worried about it, no one else should be. Thanks for your concern but it's really unnecessary :)

and MusicMom, I'm sorry, that really sucks :( I hope you hear from him soon. The waiting is so obnoxious. Maybe he's just really focused? Mine's problem is that since there's limited personal space there and he needs a wide berth, he will hermit away every time he gets a spare minute. Hopefully it's something like that with your son, but either way let us know when you hear from him!
Guess I was just being a mom ronspatricia. :) If you two are happy with things as they are, that's all that matters. I wish you and your Sailor man the best!

Arwen, any ideas for Music Mom? Just sit tight and wait for him to make contact or could she call his A school at GL and at least verify with his command that he's there? She can at least rest easy then and get a message to him that he can choose to respond to, or not. I know Moms have done something like that before when their Sailor was MIA at a new duty station. Prayng all is well with your son musicmom, I sure understand your concern! Let us know if you do hear from him.
