Hi All,

My daughter is leaving to boot camp in July.Everyday that passes I dread the day is creeping up way to quick. I hate this feeling I have I spoke to her about joining the Military since she was young believing this was the best choice for her. Now that the time is coming im coming to regret all of that. I cry ever day im scared, sad and confused. She is my one and only daughter and we are super close. I try so hard to be strong but I cry all the time. I cherish all the time we have together and I am so proud of her but its so hard. I know I am not the only one who is going through this and feel foolish at times for crying. I just needed to vent sorry I dont know what to do anymore....

I still cry everyday and my boy has been in 3 years.

My heart goes out to you!  My son just left on Monday and I haven't felt so much pain in my life.  I was like you as the days crept closer and after dropping him off I just fell completely apart.  I miss him so much!!

I left info for you on your My Page.

Thank you all for you responses, advice and support. I know im just being selfish and know deep in my heart She will do awesome. I know this is a great opportunity and career for her. Thank you all and God Bless you all and your Children who are serving, currently in boot camp or awaiting the day.

NO you are not being selfish, you are a Mom!  That is your job... It is the  fear of the unknown, not knowing is one of the hardest things we do as parents... the rewards after BC far outweighs what you may see as risk right now.  I can also tell you as I went to a few meetings with my son not just to the Navy recruiter but to a Marine recruiter as well, your children have made the best decision to go NAVY!  They will leave the Navy after there original sign up or after they do their 20 with a career that will transfer into the public arena. They will, depending on what their choice of career is hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of training before they ever go on their first deployment.  I will implore you to continue to encourage your child to take advantage of the ability to go to college while they are in the military, don't wait til they are out... those benefits can be transferred to a spouse or children.  This is a no lose opportunity for education, training, travel and a well rounded independent young adult.  You just need to sit with their decision and allow the tears to fall, hug them as often as you can before they leave, encourage their every move and I promise you will make it though this... as I said before I am a veteran Mom, my son has been in 10 years, I have not seen him for the majority of the years he's been in.  But, I can assure you I get every hug I can, I tell him how proud I am of him every time I can and never have once regretted his decision of joining the NAVY.  My son was also in Iraq for 6 months, I didn't breathe the entire time he was there... Love your children as much as you can while they are home, create special memories before they go...  My son is currently teaching A school (the first training after basic) and who knows depending on what they are training for my son may be teaching them!  This is a wonderful group, it helped me although I didn't know until he was in Hawaii about the group...  So lets keep on bonding and who knows maybe we all will meet someday!  Thank you and your children for choosing the NAVY!!!

Thank u for your encouragment my daughters date changed from July 7th to July 1st and that was more heart retching but i hear u and appreciate u for reaching out God Bless. She is going to Pensacola for A school to become an AO so proud of her...

I left info on your My Page concerning her contracted rating.

Dear Confused Mom,

I know exactly what your going though my daughter leaves in July also it's worries me too. God help us! That's the reason I joined Navy For Moms just to get though this. My daughter is our life, our air we breath the reason we get up in the morning. She's our miracle baby we love her so much and hate to see her go. We just have to lift her up to our Lord he will watch over them! I knew the days are going to fast she calls me about 4 times a day. I'll miss her terribly  :-(  us moms have to stuck together.

Debbie

I left info for you on your My Page.

My son has been at BC for 2 days and you would think by the way I am feeling that he was never coming out! lol I never planted the seed but I am sure glad he did. The pride in your kid outweighs the sacrifices you make together. I cry ALOT behind closed doors but if you see me on the street I am just a mom bursting with Navy Pride! I have found great comfort from the moms on this page. My husband thinks I spend entirely too much time here. hmpf ;) I know it has to get easier and will for you too. ((hugs))

It is scary but the best part is the letters!   Write her starting the day she leaves.   Send them weather, sports, anything that will keep her spirits up.    I am going to cherish the letters my son wrote me forever.

Me too, I still have them all... I even have them from other young men, who called me Mom, that I had the great fortune to meet when I went to graduation and I am still in touch with them.
