For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

At the risk of putting foot in mouth again... Just wondered what the other moms/wives/girlfriends thought about the process/risk/benefit/career choice. I understand some of this is out of my sons hands (and certainly out of mine), but to the extent that he can make an informed decision I hope to help. He went into BC in a better position because he studied and trained. I am very proud of him. I trust the Navy and our country will be well served.

Well now I feel kind of stupid!!! Hahahaha - I guess you all know where my head is at. My son hasn't indicated one way or the other what he is going to do - but I assume that he is going to stay Navy since that's all he talks about.

Well...I feel that whatever he wants to do will be OK with me. Am I thrilled that he could go "green". Not necessarily :) I have heard from a ton of people that the marines make sure the "Docs" are taken good care of. They want to make sure they are OK so they can help them. My son said one of the main reasons was you can rank up much faster going "green" than just staying "blue."

Hey ladies spoke with my sr today they do leave on sat for a school. He also said that it could be 2 months before he startes a school because they have to wait until a slot opens.

Hi desireenavygf. Any chance you know what time they fly on Sat and/or which airport? Was hoping my SR would share that with me, but no such luck. And congrats on your new sailor!

my son thought it was very early in the morning - like 1 a.m. - but now I am hearing that they only drop the boys/girls off once per day and leave them at the airport until their plane leaves. So, now I'm not sure if he is flying out at 1 a.m. or just being dropped off and his plane leaves later that day. Waiting for his "I'm a Sailor" call to find out for sure then I will let you know.

Hello - I'm new to this page but my son is attending A - School in San Antonio. He wants to be an FMF but thought be may not make it :( Time will tell. It's great to find a forum where we're all in the same situation for at least the next 4+ months. Thanks for starting ti!

ok so i am totally out of the loop. green vs blue? if they are with the marines that means in harms way more often? what is FMF? and does that mean they will leave for San Antonio but not start class for 2 months? is that the whole group? so confused, please help

My SR went in with the plan to go blue (Navy), but I'm not sure that he hasn't changed his mind. I've seen some info/discussion that there is a year long wait for FMTB and more sailors are going to C-schools. Oh, FMF is the designation or credential. FMTB is the training.
