For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Daughter getting married after boot camp

I think her plans is to get married right after A training and she will have her orders and plan her and him to get an apartment off ship. I don,t know how everything will work or if she would have time before her station. do they have to have permission from their commander?
she is hoping they Navy pays half the rent. Personally I wish she would wait one year after stationed.

She probably wants to marry before she gets orders out of A school so her spouse has a paid move to where she will be stationed. If she already had follow on orders for after Great Lakes, her spouse will not get a paid move.
Great Lakes training commands DO require a special request chit and she will most likely be required to take a pre-marital course. Only longer schools approved Live Ashore (AECF program for one), all schools less than six months do not approve living offbase/in base housing. In the fleet, married sailors may live offbase, no permission required.
