Daughter is in Power School (Nuke) and getting married this fall to another Power School (Nuke)

They are both Nukes, she is an ET and he is a EM, so they are in different classes and doing quite well with their studies. They are getting married on 11/07/09 and finish power school at the end of January. I guess my question is...does anyone have any experience with both husband and wife in the Navy?

Unfortunately the Navy never guarantees that husband and wife will be together. My son is married but his wife is a civilian, that's a quite different situation. Maybe someone else has more info.
Sigh, it isn't good news.

I'm assuming they have permission from the Navy. In writing, special request chits and all. Marriage and nukes is looked at very strictly from a security standpoint. If they do not have permission, there is a chance they could lose their clearances and their school. Not probable as they both have clearances, but possible. Do double-check that via official channels, the security officer for nuke school. Not friends, not a non-nuke yoeman, check with their COC and the head of nuke security. I know what I'm talking about here, trust me.

I was active duty married to active duty. It is never easy. They can request spouse duty, but it may or may not happen. They cannot be at the same command. Same base, yes, same command, no. Married sailors tend to get sea duty for one, shore duty for the other. This is tough for nukes! They must go where they are needed, the Navy will not create billets for them to fill to be close to one another. Their schedules won't match even if they do get to the same place. The first two years of my marriage, I saw my hubby for a grand total of 28 DAYS. And we were simply ETs in critical positions, rarely got to take leave. I didn't re-enlist after nine years of service because the Navy was going to send me to Cali just after hubby got another tour in Japan. Nukes? I shudder at the thought.

Come to think of it, have them ask if they can go to the same prototype. That's the same command if they're both there. I know school rules are different from the fleet, but that would be a good detail to investigate.
