At the moment I am a little disappointed because no one told me about a ceremony prior to my daughter leaving for boot camp. I got a message from her at 5 in the morning saying I don't know if you are going to be at the ceremony today or not but can you bring me bla bla bla ..... that is when I realize why the other mom at the recruiters was asking the address for the Embassy Suites. However I can't just not go to work at the last minute so whatever this ceremony is...I missed it. Someone should have said something to me yesterday when I thought that was our last goodbye and I cried all day! Like that wasn't hard enough to deal with..now I feel like she may feel unsupported and I have no way to explain why we weren't there until I get this scripted phone call everyone is talking about.

jaws11, I left info for you on your My Page.
You are very welcome. I hope to see you in the groups I mentioned.
Dont feel so bad my son did not say anything to us about it either!! I found out about it on this site too.. I dont think the recruiter told him that we could attend. He didnt seem to think it was a big deal I would have liked to have attended and seen him especially now that I see people posting pictures etc on FB of their children or group shots in the private groups.. It only happens once in a life time its over done with next is PIR so plan for that ok. :)
I spoke with her and she thought I knew. Must have missed the bird sitting on my window that day passing out information. LOL But I'm ok now... Now I just wait to see how well she gets thru boot. Thank you! :-)
Sorry to hear this. My son didn't have any type of ceremony. But maybe your daughter should have known and told you. I think all you can say I'm so sorry I missed it but I didn't know about it. It's possible the recruiters don't mention it because not all the DEPers want family there, so they leave it up to the DEPer to relay the news.
She knows you support her. Write encouraging letters, it's what I'm doing. Not a word about missing him, just trying to tell him he can do it.
