My hubby and I had over a year to prepare for this, so I think for me I was ready. I am an avid writer but I don't want to overwhelm him. I am sending him 2 more letters  tomorrow, seems like it's going to be a 2 letter a week deal, maybe a bit more.

When I talked to him on the phone he seemed in really high spirits. I hear it's not that hard as long as you keep your mind on the goal. I know a lot of guys who have gone through this.

That's so awesome! I'm glad he was in high spirits!

I'm just extremely new to this, so I have no idea what to expect. Defiantly a life changing experience for the good..

I'm sure you've read this already, but be sure to activate that phone card before you send it and keep the numbers on the back so you can check the balance and add more minutes if it is the kind of card that you can.
Yeah I did that! =) I want to make sure I can add to it, if he even gets to use it. =/
I did not activate it! Oops better send another, b4 BS's

Congratulations!  Take what you can get - not that I'm trying to start anything here, but maybe wives are higher priority than sons & daughters ;)  That's ok w/me, though I certainly miss my SR.  I can't imagine being married and going through this - my husband travels 3-4 days a week, but at least he comes home for the weekends!

Hope to meet you at PIR

My friend, Navy HM, told me that sometimes you pull a commander who has a soft spot for those with spouses. I kind of wondered if that was it. I mean the call was only like 30 seconds, but it was completely reassuring.
Very happy for you - maybe your husband will be a good influence on our SRs.  From some of their first comments I'm wondering if they were a little too well prepared!  Hope you get your letter soon!

One of the things we noticed through the DEP program and even being at MEPs was that he had a bit of age on the others. He is 23. He tends to be a good person to go to for stability. He's pretty calm and was overly prepared for basic training. In fact he sounded like he was on vacay when he called.

I'll have to ask my son about him in my next letter.  My son is 20 and, like your husband is also pretty calm - ice water in his veins.  He was also very well prepared physically, and had a lot of prepping from our friends and relatives who are/have been in the service.  We'll see if any of that has helped!!!
LydiaEmily, I deleted your reply because you gave your SR's full name.  Please use first names only if you feel inclined to give a name.  Please read the Page, What is OPSEC?, and also familiarize yourself with the Community Guidelines Thanks.
No call that first Sunday. Only got a hostage call
