While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

divisions at boot camp
My son's PIR date is 2/1/2012. There are several divisions "graduating" that day. Any idea what the differences are? 087, 088, 804, 805?

Divisions 087 and 088 are regular divisions as are divisions 077-086 in tht TG; they contain recruits who will go into all kinds of ratings. BTW, they are also Brother Divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 (BST) together. Divisions 804 and 805 are made up of candidates for Naval Special Warfare operator ratings (SEALs or special operators, Navy diver, special boat operators or SWCC, and explosive ordnance). Division 912 in that TG is a performing division and is a Triple Threat Division, so there will be some in the Musician (MU) rating and volunteers who have prior music experience (band, choir, or other musical training) or drill team experience.

Thanks for the info. we got our first letter today. He is pretty discouraged and said he is out of SWCC. he will be reclassifying. Not sure if this will effect his PIR date.

Those moving from an 800 division often move to another division within the same TG. If Division 087 is his current division number, then that has happened for him.

He was in division 804 but on his return address it said 087? a little confused.

He has already been moved from the 800 division to the regular division. His PIR date remains 02/01/2013. The classifier will work with him to find something that he is suited for since he no longer is a SWCC candidate. The only thing about not knowing his rating now, now you don't know if he we stay in GL after PIR or fly out, so plan to leave late Sunday or on Monday to cover either possibility.

What is the division number? There is no need to guess since the divisions in the TG's that your SR could be in have been posted at http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/upcoming_grads.asp. Some of those arriving that day have PIR on 02/01/2013 and some on 02/08/2013. Is it possible that someone else got the form letter? If not, you can write and ask that he send you one because you will need the names of the guests and the password (if you are driving onto the RTC).

The return address that he put on the letter is correct. Usually, if someone is moved, the recruit makes a call. Only 3 guests are permitted at that PIR, so it is very important that you know the names of the 3 people that he plans to include on the Access List. You can ask that he send another form letter and/or modify this questionnaire that I prepared for another mom who didn't get the form letter (BCQuestionnaire.doc).

You are very welcome. I am so glad you found this site. Please do join us in Boot Camp Moms and be sure to check out the Pages. That "I'm still alive!" call usually comes about week 3 or 4 of training, so that is about a month in. Don't expect a call, but do have your phone available from 8ish am to 8ish pm Central Time and be pleasantly surprised if you do receive a call.
