While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

dress code for graduation and what can we bring with us for our sailors
help. can anyone tell me what the dress code is for the graduation for the guest. also, what can we bring with us for our sailors( cell phone, computer, underwear)

There is no dress code and you will see people wearing everything from very casual to formal. This is a formal ceremony and your Sailor will be in dress blues, so you want to wear something that will be appropriate for the occasion and look good in pictures with your Sailor. I suggest that you wear business casual or nice church clothes—a suit, dark jeans, khakis, or slacks and a nice top or sweater are appropriate. Remember that you will be standing and walking quite a bit, so wear comfortable shoes. Also remember that you will be sitting in metal bleachers, so consider dress length if you wear a dress. You may want to take something to sit on--a cushion, small blanket, or jacket. It is cool, some say cold, in the Drill Hall at this time of year so think of that as well.
You can give your Sailor the things you mentioned once he has checked in at "A" School or at the airport on the way to "A" School. What will his rating (job) be? There are groups for most of the "A" Schools and/or ratings.
When is PIR? Have you joined the group for his PIR date? If not, go to http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that. You may want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms, PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here.

My daughter's PIR is Nov. 9 and you said we can bring cell, computer, what other things can we bring for her, her birthday is Nov. 11, can we bring her presents?

You may be able to bring her presents, but it will depend on what you take her. If she is flying out, they must be able to fit in her black backpack along with the other things mentioned. If she is staying in GL, they don't have a lot of room so you must consider that. Gift cards from the NEX or from various restaurants or preloaded VISA or Mastercard gift cards are great and take up very little space. What will her rating (job) be so I can steer you to a group for her rating and/or "A" School?

My son is graduating on Friday and then going to Ct. I think when do you think he would be flying out?

Most new Sailors who fly out tis weekend will fly out on Saturday. Only your Sailor will know his particular flight details. Be sure to ask him which airport he flies out of and when his flight is as well as when he is expected to arrive at the airport and a good place to meet him (often the USO) and write it down. You will be able to spend time with him prior to his flight and give him things to put in his black backpack. You can take some snacks to share while you wait and if you have any left, you can send them with him on the plane except for liquids.
I see you have joined the groups for his "A" School and a couple of the general Sub groups. What will his rating (job) be?

There aren't any separate groups for MT. Your "I'm a Sailor!" call can come any day now. The calls come in 2ish pm to 8ish pm and can come as late as the day before PIR. Someone (often diannep) sends a PM to the members of the PIR group to let them know when to expect the calls if any recruits have let loved ones know. Watch within the group for posts.
