Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I have had all intentions of flying, but now I'm contemplating the drive. Pros and Cons for both.. What do most of you recommend? The drive is over 13 hours, and the flight is 2, but with the PIR most likely being in January I don't know what to do, you don't know about the weather, and financially it make sense to drive, rather than pay for flights for 3 people, and still have to rent a car.... But I hate traffic, and flying would be so much quicker unless there is bad weather, and we run into delayed/cancelled flights. Just looking for advice... Thanks

Yes that's why I said that I would be concerned driving in those conditions. I live in Texas and am not used to driving in those types of conditions.

My son had a friend in his div. due to weather flight got canceled and couldn't get another flight for everyone going. they almost miss his graduation. Do what you feel right for you. As we where packing the car I said flying would have been easier but We were able to bring anything my son wanted. good Luck enjoy everything.

We are thinking about driving...our drive would be about 12 hours or so from GA. I am afraid that if we run into bad weather then the flights would be cancelled and we would miss the graduation but I guess that could happen whether we fly or drive.

We drove from NJ, took us 14 hours with bathroom & gas brakes. we had bad rain for about 5 hours. then got better. Good luck

I live in Bristol tn I would love to drive to save lots of money but weather is my concern so I guess we fly LORDS WILLI WANT TO SEE MY SON PIR

We did go with the decision to drive, especially since my sons PIR is 12/31/15. I know flights will be more expensive during the holiday season, and airports extra crowded. I figure if a flight is cancelled we may still be able to get through on the roads. If weather seems to be bad when it gets time to go, then we will leave early to allow enough time to get there.

We're not headed to PIR until February, and were contemplating the same things; for us it would take 2 days to drive. We've looked at cost and finally decided to take the train. Train for 27 hours and rental car in Chicago was an estimated $50 dollars cheaper than fuel and hotel for two days.
Just another option that includes not having to worry about roads in winter.

We will be heading up to Chicago in February.  We are thinking about flying.  We live in Florida and I have a very small car and not very comfortable for long drives.  Very concerned about the weather.  We lived in Ohio until 11 years ago and handled driving in the snow. but a flight would be so much quicker..

We went to PIR on 12/21/12.  We are in CA so driving wasn't an option.  We just made sure our flight there was on Wednesday - that way we had an extra day in case flights were cancelled.  It all worked out - we did get a bit of delay on our layover into Chicago but we had made arrangements with Sarge to pick us up and he was there - even though it was the middle of the night. (And that was the winter they had the polar vortex!)  It was darn cold but we survived ;-) lol!  Good luck to you!
