Hi there! Im new here. My son has been in the service for roughly 4 years. Its been over a year since ive seen him and due to where he is speaking to him is few and far between. What do yall do between speaking to him and how do handle the missing him?

My husband is going to visit him soon, but we have 2 other kids and our youngest has autism and Epilepsy so we are not going along. Its hard to not be angry and sad sometimes.

Just looking for coping tips!

Hi karmalie - I'm sorry to hear it's been a while since you spoke with your son....it can be hard.  You are entitled to your feelings though - so don't feel bad about them....have your tried using WhatsApp?  My son introduced us to that when he was in the Navy and it works well.  You can message and make calls.  I'm betting your son is busy and he probably misses you too - sometimes it's harder for them to call home because it makes them homesick.  Hopefully when your husband is there he can discuss this with him and maybe they can come up with a schedule that works so he can call a little more often.  Hang in there....and continue to send him messages.  Even if he doesn't respond he'll know you are thinking of him!

He does message when he can. Thankfully. And we play a game online so that is at least something when he cant "talk". He called home the other day and I broke down in tears cause its been so long since I heard his voice. I know he calls when he has time. But being "deployed" and where hes stationed calling doesnt always work because of timing.

Awww that's awesome that you get to play a game online together!  I know it's not the same not hearing his voice.....ask your husband to get some videos of him while there and you can replay them when you are feeling down!

Yes! That is what I am hoping for!!
