Welcome to the discussion group for divisions 819 & 820. It only happens a few times a year when there are two special ops groups in one TG.

Please be very aware when posting about your SRs who are in one of these divisions. Although they are still in BC, what  they are doing may be slightly different from what the other division are doing. Make sure you read the OPSEC rules (everyone should).

Hello 819 & 820. Welcome to BC

I'll be hanging around if anyone has any questions and I will try to answer. My son started out in 2010 with a SEAL contract. As ellen said you will find out that the 800 divisions are slightly different that the others. If anyone will be heading to PreBuds, there is a group you can join as well.

Since this group is different, I highly recommend that you change the settings on your page to "private" and click friends only. Also do not use your recruits name when posting or even anything that refers to him in your profile pic. The rdc's will eventually read these comments.

question sjtina:  I have been sending self addressed stamped envelopes every time I write him is that ok?

Nurse, stamps are a good idea. They are given envelopes so you don't need to send those. Its was wonderful to see those Navy envelopes in the mailbox.

Also it is a good idea to number your letters because for some reason they do not always arrive in order. Letters should start getting to you around week 3, they have to train someone to work the mailroom.

Oh, ok Thank ou sjtina.  I am looking so forward to hearing from him.

Navy Mom,There can never be enough mail for your recruits. Its the highlight of their day waiting for mail call and hear their name. I asked all my friends and family to write.

As long as its not musical or a decorated envelope it will be fine. lol

I am also flying out of Sacramento for PIR on 9/28
I got my tickets for $277 (including insurance) through Priceline (name your own price $261!!!) Fly into MKE it is MUCH cheaper and no Chicago traffic! :) I sent you a friend request, feel free to ask any and all questions I am happy to help! :)
Hugs,
Jane

I wanted to tell you what happened to us.  We got the form letter with the graduation date, so I bought tickets for two of us to go out on 9/28.  I bought the insurance, too.  Then I received another form letter yesterday saying he switched ships and divisions and had a different graduation date....a week later.  So, I thought, no problem as I had bought the insurance.  But no.  The insurance only covers a medical emergency, a death, or some kind of court appearance.  It won't cover something like this and we are out $150 per ticket.

I have sent letters almost everyday so far.

Thanks sjtina!

I love this website, but it's overwhelming! So many groups so much to read. My son is in Div 820. He's older, 26 and very decisive about the Navy. It came as a surprise for us especially what he wants to do, but we are praying for him and all of your sons, too. There have been many who have gone before us, and I feel it is my duty to honor them and our sons by praying for them and standing proudly behind them.

It can be overwhelming Delta, but you really have found a "home" here in this group. It is easy to find, bookmark either this page or NavyMoms.com on your web browser. If you bookmark the website, just click on the tab at the top that says "my page" and you can then click on this groups link, voila you're here.

You can also click on the tab "my groups" it will show you all the groups on the site, below the tabs and to the left you will see a link called "my groups" click it and it will pull up a page of all the groups you have joined, you can click on any one of them to take you to where you want to go including this group. It only takes a couple of times to figure it all out.

My son was also 26 when he joined so I completely understand where you are coming from.

Also, you should probably go change your settings on your profile to private. These 800 divisions are a little different from the rest. If you don't know how to do it ask...there are no dumb questions.

Glad you have joined this PIR groups page Delta and a very hardy welcome. Sjtina will be lots of help to you all here.

Thank you so much ellen0502! I can navigate the groups, and get in and out pretty well. My problem is I'm trying to read everything. It's going to take me some time to narrow my focus. I am beginning to, though. That's how I got here.

Thank you for telling me about the privacy settings. I thought I had that done, but of course, I realized I missed something. If I still haven't taken care of that, please let me know.

I'm like a child with Halloween candy on this website...trying to inhale it all. It gives me comfort.

Bless you for replying to me. Being a newcomer, it's nice to know somebody's reading my drivel :).
