OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

E-2 Seaman Info
Hi everyone! My fiance left for BC (Great Lakes) on Thursday I already miss him sooooo much. Anyways, I know he went in without a job instead he got stuck with Seaman? I don't know much about this postion or rate, but I have heard many negative things. I was wondering do all Seaman go on ships? For how long?
Also, my fiance said he should be graduating from BC on Black Friday the day after Thanksgiving, is that possible? Does he get time off that weekend? We were supposed to get married on Novemeber 4th, ofcourse that got pushed away now. I'm hoping we will get a chance to tie the knot before he is sent off. I'm sooooo sorry about all these questions, I'm new to this site and Navy life LOL. Any info will help. Thanks!

He won't know his PIR date until he is there for a while, guessing the date doesn't work.
As far as PIR on the day after Thanksgiving, that doesn't happen, they will have it the day before Thanksgiving.
If he is an UNDES Seaman, his short follow on training will be in Great Lakes, so after PIR he will move right over to the main base.
As far as getting married, once he is on the main base, he will have to get approval to get married. Paper work, classes, ect...
Just so you know, he will get his follow on orders while he is in bootcamp, so at PIR he will know where his first command is. There is a chance he could be sent overseas, if that is the case, even if you get married you will not be approved to move overseas with him as he will be a jr Sailor.

Thank you Angie! All this is very helpful. Question, does that mean after PIR he goes straight to training in Great Lakes or does he get a break since it will be Thanksgiving?

He may have PIR Thanksgiving week or it could be the week before, you will not know for certain until you get the form letter with the PIR date. Either way, he will check in across the street at the TSC, which takes 3-5 hours, and then call you to pick him up. He will then have Liberty until almost 10 pm when Liberty expires (he has to be back about 30 minutes before to have time to get back to his barracks before Liberty expires. He will have daytime Liberty from 6:30 or 7:00 am until Liberty expires each night of the weekend. That could be 2 days if it is the week before Thanksgiving or 4 days if it is Thanksgiving weekend.

Anti M, would you happen to know which days he will have Liberty if PIR is Wednesday?

I'm not Anti M, but if he stays in GL, he will have Liberty on Wednesday after he checks in at the TSC, which takes about 3-5 hours until Liberty expires that night at 10, but you must drop him off about 30 minutes before to give him time to get to his barracks. Then he will have daytime Liberty (pick up 6:30 or 7 am and drop off 9:30 pm or so) each day of the 4 day weekend, or at least they have in the past. You can check on the Training Support Center (TSC) Great Lakes Facebook Page (clickable link) to see if anything has been posted about it yet.
