For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

I feel the same, my son told us he was joining two days before his testing and physical, which was not quite 3 weeks ago. He was on DEP until Dec 1, but yesterday his recruiter called and said someone with his job couldn't go to BC and would he like to leave early? He said yes, and will be leaving on June 9th. Talk about things happening quickly, considering when he told us it was the first we had heard about it. He is my youngest, and has said he justs "wants to get out there and started with life" But I thought we would have more time with him before he did. I know this will be good, as my son is like TexasBird's, he works better with structure in his life. I guess I'm being a little selfish, but it is so hard to know he's going so far away, especially when he goes to A school. My oldest was away for college but was only an hour away so it was easy to visit. My husband and I will miss him so much, even my oldest said "things will sure be different around here without him" I am proud of him for making this decision, but I can't seem to stop crying when I think of him not being here. Hang in there.

Don't go missing him before he leaves. Help him prepare and start educating yourself so you know what to expect.

I have four children. All live out of state but one. Of course it would be great to be near them all but remember that you raised them to be grown and independent to lead productive lives. Get a computer and install Skype and visit often. You will be proud and all will turn out fine. God Bless!

Last May my daughter told us that she was going to join the Navy. Well, we met with her recruiter and had a ton of questions. The head recruiter had hesitations with her joining because of our (her mother and father) hesitations. Let me tell you, after a year, we now know that this has been the best decision our daughter has ever made. Not only for her, but I can say we are so on board. We love everything NAVY! We are going to GL this Thursday for PIR Friday and really couldn't be happier with her decision to join the Navy. She loves it! I have worn my "Proud Navy Mom" button ever since she call to tell me "I'm a sailor". I love every moment of it. I couldn't be prouder! Go Navy!!!!!

Believe me the longer they are in the better it gets. I've been at this for 31 yrs just sent the grandson off to Japan for his first duty station. When he rotates back his father will retire with 30 yrs active service.

When my son joined DEP I was angry with him. I figured he had a year where I could change his mind and follow the plan that I made for him a long time ago. How dare he mess with my plans for his life! LOL That was 2 years ago and he has now been in 10 months, just finishing A school last week and will head to his first duty station soon. I will say that it was the best decision of his life. I miss him like crazy, the house seems quiet without him and it would have been so much easier if he'd gone to college like I planned. Those things are about me and I still have those moments where I want to tell him to come home right now and do it my way! :) That said, I have seen such growth in him over the last year and have had some amazing moments of celebration with him over his accomplishments. It's not the easy path for sure but it's his. We get to watch them spread their wings and become a part of something so challenging and honorable. Hang in there, mom, you and your daughter will be ok and we will all be here to support you!
