Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

So my husband just graduated A School and arrived in Norfolk last night. Before I get into our problem I am going to insert just a little bit of background info. Orders were delayed when he was in A school in Pensacola. He received his orders a week after he graduated. When he received the written orders he went to his command and asked what he has to do to start getting info on how to move our family. The answer he was given was "Just wait until you get to where you are going and they will tell you everything."

Now he called and arrived in Norfolk yesterday. They looked at him as if he was crazy saying he wasn't supposed to be there. He was told that he was not supposed to be staying in the barracks because he is married. As the conversation progressed, it was found out that his assigned sponsor did absolutely nothing he was supposed to do. With everything so fast paced, my husband listened to his command in Pensacola and figured once in VA he would be given further info/be able to ask for it. Well they finally found him a room to stay in. Tomorrow he will be reporting and doing all of the necessary paperwork for his new station as well as our move etc. 

Has anyone experienced anything like this? I know that as military, we have to be our own advocate in almost every aspect of business. It's just a bit off putting that we werent even given a real starting point to find our own information. I am so frustrated and there are so many untied ends I don't really know where to start. Anyone with advice or experience with anything to do with my situation, I am all (grateful) ears!!

When he starts his check in process he needs to tell everyone that his sponsor was totally useless.  It put a real huge problem on his transfer, and is causing undue burden on his family.  I beleive he is allowed 10 days house hunting leave (he needs to check on that), but at least he can get his family stuff oriented.  
He needs to send you a POA to get the House Hold Goods (HHG) shipment started.  If your written into his orders, then you should be with him, and the Navy should be paying the hotel bill. 

You also have the option of calling the command's OMBUDSMAN.  That shouldn't be used unless you are really, really ticked off.  Then it works wonders...

Plus, find out who assigned the sponsor, make sure they didn't give him to someone who was on leave or TDY.  Or they gave him a single guy who had zero clue of what a sponsor does.  I've seen that happened, sponsor wasn't even aware they had someone coming in.
