Got a short phone call on Saturday with a range of emotions. First letter today. More upbeat and strong so I feel much better right now and may actually get a good nights sleep!

SO glad you got to hear from them :)

Same here, Porter's Mom. When I spoke to my son on Saturday, he was all over the place, so I did get a bit worried, but got my first letter from him today and he sounds much better.

I am hearing for others that is pretty common to receive the emotional call followed by more upbeat letter.
I'll be glad to get my first letter from son so I can relax a little

Glad to hear your are getting calls!  My son is PIR for 7/18/14, and have not received a phone or letter yet!  He is in DIV 936, and believe many others in the division are anxiously awaiting also.  Hoping today is the day!

My son left on May 28. We got his "box on Tues June 3rd....still haven't received his address. I am going crazy. Does anyone have an idea of when the address comes? I have a stack of letters from our family just waiting to get to him.  )o:

Our son left May 28th also, we just got his address today!!  You should get it today also (o:

I have received 3 letters and 3 phone calls from my daughter.  She sounds better and better in each one. She is doing well and getting used to being away from home.  Yesterday was one month without seeing her.  I miss her so much.

Wkelly mine left the same time as yours and I received the box also but no letter yet. I hope it will come this week.it's definitely hard to wait.
Hi,
My daughter is PIR 7/18/14 also, Ship 09 Div221 and I've received three phone calls from her so far. Just as Trisha stated in her comment, she sounded more upbeat on each call. Her first call wasn't good, but I was prepared, because my son joined the Navy last year, so I already knew what to expect. The first call he didn't sound good, but by next call, he was happy and upbeat, motivated and totally different and it was same with my daughter.

Keep the faith Moms! Both my children chose the NAVY and I try to remember that although I worry a lot, they are a part of the "elite 1%" of Americans that are willing to make the necessary sacrifices to ensure we can continue to enjoy the liberties and freedom we have in America. I'm very proud of both of them.
