The downside of this site is that loved ones see that one mom gets her form letter in 6 days and then everyone worries why they haven't received theirs.

The average time for the form letters is 10 day after arrival at RTC. Some people get their letters sooner, some later. When will you get yours? Anybody's guess. NO TWO BOOT CAMP EXPERIENCES ARE EXACTLY ALIKE. If you don't get your form letter in 2 weeks, call the recruiter. Till then, hang in there. Comparing notes with others on every detail can make you crazy. ;)

Crytodad,....I am alreafy cray cray! Thanks. I needed that reality check.

When did your son ship out?

My son left on the 10th, got "The Box" last Friday (the 13th) - as of yesterday no letter yet.  Hoping it will be in the mailbox today when I come home from work.  I don't understand why some parents already received their letters?  We have so many mails we want to send out to him already.

Looks like we have been on the same track, I am hoping when I get home we will get our letter, I can not wait to leave work.  However our mail has been coming so late at night dont know why they are moving so slow right now.  I think I am going to put my tailgate down and sit and wait for the mail person to come up and be there like a little kid. :)

It's funny that I've never realized how late our mail came either until my daughter left for boot camp.  I check as soon as I get home from work and it's never there!  I probably walk out to the box 2 or 3 times before it actually shows up.  My daughter is a little ahead of your sailors, she left on the 5th so now I'm waiting for a real letter.  The form letter was nice to receive (she even wrote a note in the margin!), but I want a REAL letter now!

I received mine today.  My son left 11/10

Momofnm, Congrats, I checked the mail today hoping but no luck for us our daughter left on 11/10 as well. All I can do is pray Monday is our lucky day. So what is your sons PIR? From others going the same day it's been 01/08/16 I'm hoping ours will be the same.

I am still waiting on mine, too, Ronee!  Hopefully Monday :(

My son left 11/10 and we got the form letter today.  Double the happiness because after a couple of hours, he called!  Apparently, they need some documents from us but it was the best phone call ever.  He sounded upbeat and happy. His graduation is !/8/16 but he also mentioned about looking out for a letter in a couple of days about adopt a sailor on Christmas day.  Hang in there, I'm sure your letter will come real soon.  Mine was stamped 11/18 & we just received it today, we live in NYC. Hope to meet you in January. My son is Ship 2 Div.909.
