For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Open this link. There is a lot of info for a new member. Look for the link to the Recruit Training Command. Just underneath that is a link to the Family Guide. Click on this and print it out for reference. This is a publication from the Navy. There is a section of Military ID.

a VA card is only used for medical care at the VA, it is not a card showing he is retired or active duty. So as was said he will need to either be on the list to get into PIR, or he will have to wait to see if there is space for extra guests.
Special access is only for those who are retired or active duty. Dependents and those with VA cards do not count.

Thanks for the replies. I did read that link a while back, but yesterday I read that with a military ID anyone could get in. Maybe I misinterpreted it :( I'm a little deflated. With a split family I know we won't ll be ble to get in. I feel it should be me, my daughter (Hunter's sister) and my ex as 3. That leaves one other seat for either my mom or dad which would be a hard choice. My husband understands this and is ok waiting in the waiting area because he knows how important it is to my parents to attend. They have done so much for my son and been there for him. My ex told him if his step mom didn't get one of the assigned seats then he wasn't going. Really irritates me that he is manipulating him that way!! His dad and step mom have only been married for 5 years so it's not like she has been a part of his life since he was young. Anyways, there is more to it and I've let it go because I don't want hunter to feel like he is choosing. When I thought my dad and husband could get in with military ID's it resolved the problem. Guess we will figure something else out. Thanks again.

It really is up to the soon to be Sailor who gets to go to the PIR as they are the one who puts the name on the list while they are in bootcamp. Yes he does need to make the choice.
Also there are no assigned seats once in the hall, they are first come first serve

We have the same exact situation that you have here. And I mean exact! I know how you feel, and I'm trying to work out the same issues. My dad was Army but not retired Army. Split family, we all want to go, etc. I hope everything works out for you.
