For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Funny story
Hi all. When the Gravely was first commissioned I became a member of this group. My son was one of the original crew. He spent a long time in Mississippi as the ship was built, then on to Wilmington, NC for the commissioning(what a week), then on to Norfolk. Well that was 8 years ago and my son has moved to another ship and then land duty. Well, his 20 years is up in 18 months and guess what his orders are once again for the Gravely. Although its bittersweet, that he will be retiring soon, it's great that he will finish up on a ship he helped build. And yes he will be the only one on the ship from the original crew. This is real Bittersweet, what a way to end the Career back on the ship he first began. I like this story I'm sure this doesnt happen very often, what a coincidence.

The Gravely wasn't his first ship, although he was there to see it built, commissioned and its first deployment. His first ship was the USS Elliott, which he helped with the decommissioning. We tease him alot that he now knows how to decommission a ship and also to commission one. The navy has been so good for him
