Hi All,

I am wondering if anyone's SR got their wisdom teeth pulled out while at BC and if so have you heard from them? I'm sure this procedure is done quite often but I am also wondering how your SR made out with it. What was the recovery time and such?

Thanks

Micki

Micki...from most of the posts that I have seen and what I have heard most rcts do fine with the wisdom teeth...they get 2 days in their rack, soft food, pain meds, etc. They do have bruising and swelling. The males have more issues with having to shave...hurts and is tender but they seem to recover well. There are the occasional ones who have issues (Like in the real world) but they are in good hands and are monitored closely.

Thank you Jessica for the response....it really helped my nerves :) I know she needed all 4 removed and I was a little concerned as my other daughter got hers out 2 years ago at 25 yrs old and she was quite sore but ok.

Micki.. they do look out for them up there. Any problems at all they are made to call home

Any problems and they are allowed to call home, no one makes them call home.  They could call information if they want to, it is up to the recruit who they call

Thank you Angie :)

I'm sure they do and thank you Denise :)

Ice !
Ice ... ice is their friend! I am an RDH and ice is the best thing ! Reduces swelling and discomfort.
10 minutes on, 10 minutes off.

Our son will be at GL on 6-10 and I am sure his third molars will be extracted during BC.

How did you find out that they were getting their teeth out?  I know my daughter needs them out, but I don't know if I'll find out if they did it or not and did they get set back a week for graduation?

I have no idea. I do know that they take good care of them, as Jessica said so I am just waiting on a letter and I will let you know as I am sure she will mention it when she wrties. :) I don't think they get set back a week at all, recovery seems to be 2 days.

Collettakay: getting wisdom teeth removed is a very common thing at BC.. she won't get set back for graduation unless there is somekind of complication.  Just look forward to seeing her at the most magnificiant graduation that I had ever witnessed.. the entire thing was totally amazing.

Hi Micki:  My son had all four wisdom teeth removed during week 4 of BC. It was weird, he did not mind because it actually gave him a few days sick in bunk. !

Hi Laura,

Actually my daughter went to the dentist and after the 2nd try to numb her, he gave up and said she can keep her wisdom teeth....lol

She did have 2 cavities though, which he took care of.
