My son will be leaving for boot camp on July 9th. I am trying to plan a party for him but having trouble coming up with ideals. Can anyone out there please help me? The party will probably be towards the end of June.

Thank you in advance.

Tanya-

My son leaves in September, so we are doing a graduation/enlistment party for him after he graduates high school. How old is your son?

My son is 17. He will turn 18 the day before he leaves for bootcamp. He graduates high school in May. We are planning his party June 21st.

Can you incorporate the two?  For me, it was a way to only deal with the emotions and explanations once.  But someone sent me a Pinterest that had fishbowls with blue jello in them with Navy ships on top  of them as cute centerpieces.

Yes we where going to try to. That is a cute ideal. Thank you.

At my son's going away party, of course we did everything in red, white and blue. We had a cake made with the Navy emblem. I also passed around a little notebook and had everyone write something to my son. And I also gave out blue candles in a red, white and blue bag with the blue candle saying attached to it.

Have a great party and enjoy every minute...

Thank you for the ideals. I was thinking about getting a cake in a shape of an anchor. That is if I can find someone that can make it.

Thank you for those ideals...I love the navy shirt ideal and the address book. I also read somewhere to get postcards and have people fill them out and me mail them out to him one at a later date.

Thank you for you input..

Tanya

We also did the postcards - had a bunch of random cute cards that we passed out to everyone and they just wrote a few lines of encouragement for our son.  I would then mail him a couple every few days along with my letters.

The other cool thing we did was the rubber wrist bands.  We had them made that said "BRETT - US NAVY 2012 - HOOYAH"  They were blue with an American flag on them.  I honestly don't remember where I ordered them from - just went online and found a place.  We passed them out to everyone at the party - also sent them to family/friends who couldn't be there.  Gave them to co-workers - just anyone we could think of & asked them to wear it in support of our son.  We are all still wearing ours - I've switched to a 2nd one since the letters finally wore off.  My son left 10/23/12.

My son leaves next week.  We are having a "Tres De Mayo" party.  I'm going to have note cards where people can write him a message on one side and their address on another.  As I write him, I plan on putting a card in with my notes.  That way he doesn't feel pressured to write everyone, but can if he has time.

My son is also leaving in July.  I plan on doing a red/white/blue patriotic theme but also incorporating Blue and Gold for the Navy.  I have ordered an edible image cake topper of the Navy Emblem.  I plan on making my cake look like an American Flag on the inside since it's so close to the 4th of July and he won't be home for it.  Here's the link to the Cake:  http://celebrationsathomeblog.com/2011/06/4th-of-july-flag-cake.html  I have seen people who have made cupcakes and then placed them on the platter to make the shape of an anchor.  That would be so COOL for the party!  I plan on making a box with index cards stamped with an anchor for the guests to write messages to my Future Sailor so we can send them while he is in BC.  If you do a search on Pinterest for Anchors Aweigh...you will find many ideas for your party.  Definitely use Oriental Trading Co as they have some of the BEST prices out there and they have some fun nautical stuff. Time is quickly coming upon us!  Best wishes for your son's party.

Thank you for the ideals...I will check them all out..I have never been on Pinterest..I guess I will try it out...lol..Best wishes for your son's party also...

I LOVE THE BRACELET IDEAL!!!! I am going to try and find out where to order them from..Thank you..
