For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Graduation?
How many of you plan on or have gone to graduation? It is a long distance for us , my husband has not flown since he was a teenager and I'm not sure I could get him on a plane anyway! We are from a small town so city traffic seems intimidating to me though my husband is a truck driver. (He HATES traffic,too) Our son doesn't go to boot camp until Feb 23 ( his 21st birthday!) but I am trying to work this whole thing out in my head. I have look at airfare/hotel/car pkgs and about choked!

I am planning to go, but know that many families cannot, I am going to tell my daughter to reach out to anyone she knows that needs someone to share their celebration and bring them along with us our PIR is in March. I guess this is the start of the challenge of having a child so far away.

My son said he didn't want us to try and make it to graduation because of the traveling expense. I know his fiance' wants to make it but she is not going to be able to afford it either unless some of her family pays. We live in NC so it would be a flight to get there probably. My husband (my son's step dad) says that most of the families don't make it to their kids graduation because of the cost. My husband is retired Navy.

Please keep reading all the replys, and deals and work hard to get there. It's been a long road and they worked so hard. Please, just get another credit card and look for the deals... There wasn't a dry eye in the crowd, and it was very crowded!! It's heartbreaking to see the kids walk away from formation and just have to kill time for the day bec there is no family there. Not trying to make you feel bad but if there's a way, please try to go!!

OH my! He leave on his 21st Birthday? Wow, he's brave!! Yes, my husband and I are planning on attending graduation for both our kids. My daughter's grad will be about Mar 18th, but we haven't gotten confirmation of that yet. And our son will be heading out to boot camp the week prior. We checked out packages including airfair, hotel, and rental car and it looked to be about $1000 per trip! Very expensive, and I just found out there are picture packages to purchase if we want and they are $140 +. Looks like it will be an expensive year for us. :-)

It will be soooo worth it!!! I can't wait to see my son...I'm sooo excited.....I think as parents we do what we can even if we go in debt for awhile...well you can't take it with you when your gone so you should just try to create as many memories as you can....Credit cards come in handy...or you can sell a kidney...LOL....Just kidding...I hope it works out for all of us to go and experience what their lives are now : ) Happy Friday

Hi Cyndaroo7, my son is also graduating Mar 18, no confirmation yet either. Looking forward to see him again. Yes very expensive year for us too. I haven't booked anything yet, planning to do it this week. :)

From everything I have learned in the last 3 weeks....the newly graduated recruits get to leave with their visitors for the days only. Then will need to be back on base at night. They are not allowed to travel more than 50 miles, nor are they allowed to bring anything back to base purchased on the "outside".

Yes they do get the whole weekend off, unless they have watch or something. Unless they are grad and go..then that is a different scenario. They DO have to be back at the barracks at a certain time...usually 8pm
