My son leaves for training at the Great Lakes on Sept. 16. What should we expect during the graduation? How much time will we actually get to see him? Where should we stay? When should we purchase airline tickets? Thank you!

Graduation or PIR (same thing) lasts for 90 minutes but to be seated and because of the large number of people attending you need to be there early like 7a.m. if he does not have duty that day you will have from about 6 to 7 hrs with him.  He will need to be back on base about 9 i think it is.  Seating is on bleachers so wear comfortable shoes

Thank you. So we would only need to spend one (or two) nights? I wasn't sure if we'd get to see him at all before or after the event.

My son just attended his son's PIR he stayed Thursday night and went to the meet and greet for families host by a man named Sarge and his wife they had a lot of fun there. Stayed over Friday night since his son left for A school on Saturday morning they were able to see him at the airport but it was 1 in the morning.
