GROUPS: Listed by Name of US Naval Ships (actual US Naval vessels in service)
Looking for other Navy For Moms members with sailors on the same ship/boat?
Here is a list in alphabetical order by name of ship. List doe NOT include groups with fewer than 3 members and/or groups which have been inactive in the last 8 months. Cllckable links have been provided. Just click on the name of the ship. Please post a comment if I missed your sailor's ship (with a link, if possible). Please note that if your son/daughter is in boot camp, his/her barracks are named after ships. The groups listed below are not Navy For Moms groups designated for barracks (please see groups associated with PIR dates). Edited & updated Feb 2017 by BunkerQB.
This list refers to the REAL thing - with sailors, guns, etc.

Checked the information on the ships as they are listed with the Naval Vessel Register. You'll find it quite interesting.

Alisha & Chefswifey, how about one of you starting a group and title it "Frigate Wives, Girlfriends and Moms"
The Elrod and the Nicholas are both frigates (same class). I know very little about ships except what I learn on the internet. My son is on a fast attack sub. After you form the group, you could check the above list for other groups with FFG next to the name, join that group and invite all the members to come over to your new group. :)
I found this on the internet.

Hi, Is there any chance to get something going for the
USS MISSOURI? My son is the youngest on the boat
and out for his first deployment. Would love to touch base
with others that have loved ones on this boat.
Thank you,
Johanna
Johanna, find out from the ombudsman for your son's boat if there is a Family Readiness Group on Facebook. My son' sub had a secret group on FB, which means you have to ask the ombudsman for acceptance to the group. She will check you out and add you as a member. You have to been a member of FB. If the group is secret then you won't see the title or the members. I didn't find one, so I am assuming it is a secret group. It's possible that there is no FRG for the boat. The group is usually put together by the wife of a senior officer. Therefore, it's going to be different for each boat. You should have received something prior to enlistment.
OK, everyone - any one out there on the USS Elrod, USS Missouri or the USS Nicholas - please check in. We have some ladies who would love to connect with others.
EASY, Johanna. On the menubar, click GROUPS, then click +ADD on upper right.
USS MIssouri SSN 780 (you should put this name of group). After you set up the group, go to the Sub Moms group and make an announcement (comment on page) that you have created a group for the USS Missouri. Repeat for the two groups below. Scroll up you'll see the link to the Sub Moms group. Here are links to the Groton group & Connecticut Moms. We don't have a group for my son's sub. About 10 of us do have each others phone numbers which we used once in a blue moon - mostly we communicate on the FRG clean FB group's page.
Groton, CT. Sub School & "a" School Moms
Remember to please, please keep in mind NOT to disclosure dates, locations of where the sub will be going - this is critical to their safety. Since you are the creator of the group, you can make the group private or public. You can also delete comments which violate our OPSEC rules.
Alisha & Chefswifey, here are the official designation for the Elrod & the Nicholas, if you are thinking of creating groups or a group for frigates.
USS Nicholas FFG 47
USS Elrod FFG 55
My husband just found out today that he will be on the USS Scranton.
There is no group started for the USS Scranton on Navy 4 Moms. I also did a search for groups on Facebook. I didn't see any Open or Closed groups. Now there might be a "secret" Family Readiness Group because there was a secret group for my son's submarine. You should contact the ombudsman for your husband's sub. Send her an email requesting to be admitted to any Facebook there might be for the group. I don't think every sub has a FRG. Good luck. If you should want to start a group for the Scranton, please feel free to do so and I will add it to the list above. You can then post a note in the Sub Moms group and see if you'll find others. I did run across two moms in the Sub Moms group because search for USS Scranton in Groups. The result were a number posts in the Sub Moms group. Good luck.
A number of new groups (on Navy For Moms) associated with ships have been created. Please click on underlined lines for more info.
Anyone interested in starting a group for the USS Scranton, please feel free to go ahead. Let me know if you need help.

I'm looking for another Mom who has a sailor on the U.S.S. Bremerton--submarine.
Join the group, Sub Moms (clickable link), and you may find one or more.
My son is on a sub. We do not have a Navy For Moms group - most of the N4M's groups are for carriers and destroyers. There is a Facebook Family Readiness Group for my son's boat. It's a secret group, so you need to contact the boat's ombudsman to get approval to be a member. Of course, there are "public" sites from everyone on Facebook but those pages won't get you in contact with the other families. The USS Bremerton may or may not have a FRG on FB - just depends on the person who is the ombudsman which is usually the wife of a senior officer.
Hello, My daughter is on the USS Porter. Is there any way to start a group for that ship? Thanks
