OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

Haven't Heard From My Daughter Yet - is that a good sign?

My daughter arrived at Boot Camp on May 14th - we received the 30 second call, her box of clothes and stuff and the letter stating her anticipated graduation date.  Is it unusual not to have received a second call or letters by now?  We are writing every day but I have to say I'm sad and super anxious to hear from her and that she is doing fine and progressing as planned.

"No news is good news!" See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC to let you know what is happening and what to expect. I invite you to join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) while you are there.

If PIR is 07/11/2014, join PIR 07/11/2014 TG 35 to connect with others training with your SR. If it is another date, there is a link in the info I previously left on your My Page.

Check your My Page.

Thanks so much for the reassurance and resources...I'll definitely check these areas of the site!

You are very welcome.

She would have had holiday routine for the first time on Sunday and mail would have gone out today since yesterday was a federal holiday. Look for your first "real" letter from her this week. See Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit. There is no set number of phone calls. Those are up to the RDC. See Phone Cards and Phone Calls.

Check your My Page.

I understand your feelings. My son left May 14th also. I rec'd the 30 sec call and his box, but I have yet to rec'v the form letter, phone call or personal letters. So I have not been able to send him any letters or make plans for PIR. I hope we both here something soon. Is your daughter's PIR 7/11/14?

I called my daughter's recruiter after about a week and no contact from him regarding her mailing address.  He did have it and was able to tell me what ship she was on.  We've been sending letters daily even though we haven't received any additional call or letter from her yet. Sounds to me like no news is good news from the response above.

PIR is scheduled for 7/11/14 and we've made our airline reservations but purchased the insurance in case something changes.  Hope you hear soon and take care.

Finally got the form letter today. I feel better now that I can send him letters and make plans for PIR. Now I can look forward to a phone call. ❤️⚓️

Yay!!! What division? Join PIR 07/11/2014 TG 35.

Glad to hear it...I keep holding on to the statements about " no news is good news" and am waiting as patiently as possible for the phone call.

Good luck to you!

218

Divisions 217 and 218 are Push Divisions and some in those divisions filled the divisions on the 19th, which is why there was a delay in receiving the form letter. Your Recruit had extra P-days. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and What does ??? mean? (A Guide to Navy Abbreviations and Terminology). The "I'm a Sailor!" calls will come only a day or so before PIR for those divisions. See Battle Stations-21 (BST).

Thanks so much this was helpful in better understanding the process.

You are very welcome.
