I am really concerned. I will be going to PIR to see my recruit graduate. However I will be in the chapell. That is one of my concerns. Will i still get to see him right after they are released? Or do I have to immediately go off base ? My other concren is spending time with my recruit for liberty. Are there cabs or taxi's that go to downtown Chicago? Are they pricey? But I am just very worried. I want to see him after graduation. I truly do and it will break my heart if i dont get to see him and spend time. I am coming to Great lakes alone so that is another concern. I guess i will have to put this situation in Gods hands and know that he will work it out as he always do. any advice from people who went?

sooo...can Sarge go on base?

If you are just needing a ride to and from PIR and to drop your Sailor off at the RTC, then ALL taxis and shuttles will drop you and/or your Sailor off and pick you up at the gate. No taxis or shuttles go on the RTC.

If you are wanting to go on the main part of the base (if you are staying at the Navy Gateway Inn and Suites or if you want to go to the larger NEX rather than just the small NEX on the the RTC, for example), then some of Sarge's drivers do have the endorsement needed to go onto the base.

Thanks, weighing our options, so what's the scoop on  rental at the airport?

Hello, just figuring out this site! I will be traveling alone as well. Doing research now on transport, hotels etc. I guess I'm flying into Ohare. Is UBER an option I hope?
Nancy.

nancy, see Saving Money PIR Weekend and PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend to help you plan your weekend.

I left info for you on your My Page.

I am flying into midway then will use Sarge taxi service. I think i will use an uber for going around the city.

excellent! thanks

I'll be fly'n into O'hare as well. What time?

on 4th at 1530. you?

7:15 a.m. (Thur.) 4th

We took Uber from O'Hare. I would guess that they pick up at Midway too.

I agree. Going to Chicago is not recommended.  There simply isn't enough time to enjoy it.  You'll find yourself watching the time the entire time, worried about getting your SR back to base on time.
