I'm in Southern California, and my husband is currently at BC (Ship 02 Div 930). Last week I got the application for DEERS and my Dependent ID. After lots of phone calls and navigating automated systems today, I was finally able to discover that I can go to the Navy SWC in Corona to process my application. They said I need an appointment...paperwork said nothing about this so I'm SO glad that I called before making the drive!
Just wondering if there is anything else I need to know or if anyone has suggestions about what to bring/expect in processing my application. I know I need photo ID, application, and another form of ID. Our baby is totally sick with a fever and so I'm really hoping to get everything processed ASAP! Trying to keep my cool but feeling STRESSED by this situation and the fact that there's not just some magic website I can go on or number I can call for answers. There's not, is there? :)
Thanks! Really hard day today.

You are already in DEERS, so you should just need photo ID, the signed form, and your SSN card. Supposedly! I have heard of an AF base requiring a birth certificate, but that was very odd.
Good luck! Please share your experience here, in case other wives can benefit from your process.

Like Anti M said, since you're already enrolled in DEERs, you should just need your photo ID, the signed form, and your SSN card.
However, it's always better to bring more and not need it than to need it and not have it! I suggest bringing your birth certificate and your marriage certificate if possible, just in case.
The good news is you've got an appointment! Which should cut back on your wait time dramatically!
And the second piece of good news is once you get to your first duty, the amount of support you'll have is much greater. Boot camp is kind of an awkward time because RTC doesn't have an FRG or Ombudsman program or a Fleet and Family Services program. But most other commands have at least one, if not all of these. So you'll be able to get more direct answers based on your location after you get past this stage. :)
