I think Waukegan is the closest. There is always the Navy lodge if you do not need lots of amenities.

Does the Navy Lodge have a restaurant?  What do they have?

The Navy lodge is pretty basic. No restaurant or pool, but they have a playground and offer a breakfast to go every morning, which was great the morning of PIR. There are kitchenettes in most rooms.A car is definately a must. It is clean and you can't beat the price.

If you don't rent a car, any advice on getting from airport to hotel? I saw something called Airport Express? Taxi? Hotel shuttles?
If your hotel offers a shuttle that's great bit the ones that offers a pir shuttle don't necessarily have an airport shuttle, too far. O'hare is the closest and its about 40 mins away from great lakes. For us, the price of a rental for 4 people was less expensive that the super shuttle back and forth. So weigh your options and check hotwire for great rental car prices!
Thank you! I do believe I will go with a rental. :)
I don't know. Does it give a direct phone number online to call? Is that a good place to stay, have u heard?
I'm so confused with the choice of towns, etc.
Has anyone stayed at the Marriott Courtyard Chicago Lincolnshire?  I was looking to stay there.
I'm gonna stay at Navy Lodge 11/11/11   If anybody is staying that weekend would be great to meet.

Can anyone stay at the Navy Lodge, or is it just for military persons?

Anyone have a phone number or web addy for them?

Navy Lodge 1-800-628-9466 Great Lakes location.  Make sure you call for reservations and give them your SR's name if you do not have a military ID.
