Hi Marian, I am fairly new to the site also. My son is a Seabea, Reservist, he is scheduled to be deployed in August. This site has been a great support for me. July 12th is my son's 23rd b'day, and it will be the first time we have not been together for his birthday, and I am having a difficult time with that!!! Lois
My son's recruiter told me about it and encouraged me to log on and check you out. He was right!!
You guys are great!!
I stumbled onto this web site while researching "Navy Boot Camp". We are informed that our recruit will write but......days feel like weeks! I have been on the net since he left on 6/18/08. After you know they arrive safely, you receive "the box", and the "three line letter" you are at a loss. How is he doing??? What is he doing right now? Did they get to celebrate 4th of July? You receive your graduation packet and still no letter. Back to the first question. How is he doing? His Dad and I continue to write and encourage him and know that he is busy. No pressure from home. But, you are still left wondering. Then I found this web site. It was such a comfort. I thank you and all the Moms who are so honest and caring for their Sons/Daughters and other Moms. What a blessing.
I found the link to this site on the RTC website.
Hi again, I saw an advertisement on T.V. for Navy moms, I am not very computer "savvy", so it took me a while to find you on line! I still am trying to figure out how to post photos!!!!!!! :) Lois
Photo Q and A -click here!

:) Hey Lois- So glad you have joined us. If you scroll up- you will see a tab called photos. And in the top right I think- you can see something that says add photos. From there it should talk you through it. Hope this helps. But if not- Let me know! CC
I saw it on the navy.mil site also. I saw the link and clicked....best site ever!! I have even told my son's girlfriend about it. She kinda thought I was crazy to tell her about until I told her that there are other girlfriends here and wives.
I was down and out, my daughter had just left for Bahrain. I had just spent the past few days before in tears, and was just trying to pull myself together. So I got on the computer...just like I did when she left for BC. I spent a lot of time reading the bulletin boards on Navy.com then. I went to Navy.com, no one there had posted anything on Bahrain.
I thought why on God's green earth is there no place to talk to people in my position, and was getting really discouraged about the out come of the searches.
I really don't know how, or what web site I was on when I saw the link for this. I clicked on it and I really think it was heaven sent. I almost cried.
I just cannot explain how I felt finding N4Ms.
It was what I needed, I have not been so emotional since.
I have met some of the finest people in the world here, and hope to meet more. :-)
Thanks for making a very sad time in my life a little more tolerable.
Pat
A very good friend of mine emailed me the link.
Thank you ALL for being here, I do believe we are helping each other.
I also have sent my husband to the Navy Dads site, even though he's always been welcome here.
Keep up the great work.
My husband found you. He searches the Navy websites every day for newer information for himself but to also help me cope with my son leaving. He GOOGLES everything. He has more spare time in the evening than I do. He called me yesterday to inform me that they have a Navy for Moms page. He said you can cry with the other mothers and they all know what you are feeling. My friends share their concern, but until their boys or girls go in, all they can share is their concern. They don't understand and I am sure they are tired of hearing me talk/cry about it. This is my baby leaving for however long to do whatever is asked of him. Thank you so much for creating this website. It won't make the going away less painful but it is nice to know I can share my feelings with other moms and as I see some dads who are feeling the same way I am and that is comforting to know that I am not boring anyone. Thank you again.

P.S. my husband wants to know why there is no Navy for Dads - he said they hurt too!
We do have dads on here! And he is more than welcome to join us! Though one recently just started up- (from one of our members here) navydads.com. :) Thank you for telling us how you found us! CC
LOL...that will teach me not to keep reading "down"........sorry MomAdmin!! oops
