Hi My name is Lesli, I found Navy Moms website surfing the web. This is a wonderful website. Happy Birthday Navy Mom.
My sons recruiter told me about this web site!!!
I found out from word of mouth to just check to see if there is a site for moms that has kids in the Navy. Which I am new to this site. I have been reading alot of email and thanks alot for the mail. We do pray for all of the men and women who are in the military.
I found out about this site from a friend on cafemom.com
I found the link on MySpace
My neighbor and friend told me about this site. My son is going to be enlisting we just don't know if it will be at the end of this semester of if he will get his degree and then enlist. I'm proud and terrified at the same time. He is an only child and it was bad enough when he left for college but this is more than a little overwhelming. I cried non-stop for a week. I'm slowly coming to terms with it. In my heart I always knew he was going to do this.

Sorry, this was longer than I intended.
Vicky
I can't imagine if my son was my one and only. I'd be a wreck too. He isn't leaving until September but will only be out of high school for a few months and only 18 and a few. Mom's do have a special place for their boys. This is the first life decision he has made. I'm so proud of him. When I think about him leaving I concentrate on what he will be doing (his daily activities, boot camp, A school) and I haven't given any thought to my being without him. That makes it easier to envision, for now.
Deb, my son is a in his second year of college and though he is only two hours away we only see him every six weeks or so now. I think that is God's way of helping me to transition. He started talking about the Navy when 911 happened but like a lot of moms I thought he'd outgrow it. He hasn't and I know when he graduates he will go. I just want him to get his degree first. He comes from a strong military background. He asked me recently "Mom didn't you know I would do this?" I told him "Son, there is a river in Egypt called DeNile and I've been floating on my pretty pink raft down it all this time".

I do understand that he feels an obligation to serve his country so that makes it easier for me to accept. My dad was career military.

Mothers and son's...I don't know of a stronger bond.
Hi Vicki, I haqve peace with my son being in the Navy. I say this since I know God is with him and also this is the choice Dan has made. I do feel nervous at times but I look at this is what Dan wanted to do. Write soon Lesli
Lesli (neat spelling BTW), I'm finding peace but it's been a hard road. I just keep remembering that God loves him more than I do.
Hi Vicky, Yes I agree Lesli
My daughter directed me here. She has seen me struggling with her leaving me and letting her go and in her effort to care for my heart...directed me to a place where others would understand what I'm going through... I could share my feelings...and get questions answered. Always the nurturer...my sweet baby girl....so wise and compassionate!
