I actually found this site through my son! He thought it would give me comfort and probably stop me from asking him question after question! It worked, but I learned so much that I was beginning to annoy him with my tons of information!!
My son's recruiter told me about the site. my son is leaving for boot camp in November.
I found a link on the RTC Great Lakes website in 2008 but it does not look like there is anything about Navyformoms there anymore. I went to look and did not find one. I am not sure how people are finding us now!!
My son's recruiter told me about it! But then I was so busy reading the Navy's site that I only just remembered "Navy for Moms" this weekend, so I just joined! My son graduates in less than 3 weeks (PIR 6/4 Ship 07, Div 201).
I did a search for Navy Mom forums....this is what I got. My son wants to join...I don't want any "I wish I would have knows"
oh ya....and we are not a military family so I don't know all the lingo...lol
I wish I could remember... But no matter how I found it, I'm glad I did. The help and support on here is like none other. Thank you N4M's for being here and accepting those of us that are not moms, but here for the support!
i'm so desperate to find out what's going on in a boot camp, so i've been searching the internet for information and am so thankful to find your site. it's very informative and got a lot of emotional support from members which a mom like me really need at this time when you really missed your son/daughter. It' a site of comfort. Thank You!
I don't remember but I think it may have been on the About.com website? Funny thing it took almost 11 months for my son to ship out, I had been on this site for at LEAST 6-8 mos by then. The recruiter gave me a refridgerator magnet for navyformoms.com and I said TOO LATE! :)
I found N4M's on the site for my son's ship. I am grateful for a forum to connect with people in the same situation as myself. Thank you ...
I belong to a knitting community called Ravelry.com. When my daughter joined the Navy recently, I looked for other Navy Moms on Ravelry and they refered me to this site. I am very pleased to have the resources and experiences of so many Moms! Tomorrow I meet with my daughter and her recruiter to learn more!
