FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO GET STARTED:

Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

We just received the "box" with all of my brother's items along with the letter with all the information. We are ready to write a letter but we do not even know how to start. We do not want to get all emotional and make him feel bad or homesick when he gets it. Any ideas about what not to say in the letter? Thanks in advance.

I believe you are over thinking the situation. If you are emotional, be emotional! When he gets the letter it will make him homesick, no matter what you say. Just write to him like you mean it. Wouldn't hurt to add something for him to grin about either.

Thank you samm3991! You are right, I'm a little nervous I guess.

Proudsista77 - start by telling him that you are so proud of him and that you admire his bravery and courage for choosing to serve our country and represent the World's Greatest Navy! Sending his encouraging words but be realistic that you know it will be tough but reassure him that the has what it takes to make it thru and that everyone out here is cheering him on! Send him pics of the family! and pets if you have any. Look for the questionairres here on the N4M's website. Ask him about the people he has met and where they are from. You can tell him you miss him but just make sure to follow up with saying that you can't wait to see him at PIR all dressed up in his dress whites as he marches in with pride and dignity. I wrote to my SR everyday!!! sometimes I even sent her 3 letters a day and everyday she got mail and said it was the best part of her day. I also sent my Sailor a small calendar and put a star around her PIR date and told her that I had the same calendar and we would be crossing off the days together and counting down each Friday.

Like samm3991 said, don't overthink it, just write as if you were having a normal conversation with him.
