For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

He has a signed contract and is scheduled for boot camp next week. But I still don't know what day and time he leaves home I only know what day he is scheduled to report for boot camp. He keeps telling me that everyone he asks isn't exactly sure of times yet. Is that possible?

My son didn't know an exact time to report to the recruiter's office until the day before he had to report to the recruiter's office. He had to meet his recruiter who transported him to a hotel for the night. My DIL (his wife) and my other son waited at the office with him, then followed them to the hotel. They hung out with him for a while in the hotel lobby He reported to MEPS early the next morning and my DIL and I went to be with him until the airport shuttle arrived.
We didn't get a lot of time with him at MEPS between briefings and paperwork and such but were able to see his final swearing in and take pictures.
If you are close enough to MEPS and it won't make your son uncomfortable, I would recommend going. It is impressive to see your loved one take the oath. We took several photos and cherish them. -

The day he has to "report" is generally the day BEFORE he has his final swearing in at the MEPS Center closest to you. The recruiter will pick him up - but quite possibly not at home. The Recruiter and Recruit will work on the final details the closer it gets.
I dropped off my then-recruit at the gas station close to the highway, even tho it is less than 2 miles from my house. Now that I think about it, that might have been James' idea.... -

We took our son to the recruiting office the day before he was due to leave for GL. The recruiter let us take him to the airport where he flew to Portland, spent the night in a hotel along with the rest of the recruits from that area, signed his contract the next day and they all flew to Chicago that afternoon.
His recruiter should let him know when and where he is to report. He needs to contact the office. He may not be telling you because he doesn't want you to get upset for days before he leaves. -
