I'm new here. My daughter just finished meps this past Thursday.

I am looking for any advise on how to help my daughter to prepare for boot camp.  She leaves early October.  Thanks MJ

Son left may 4th . He says he was no where near prepared for pt. Tell her work out , learn the ranks study her book

Definitely tell her to start running and check the PT that she will have to do and start working on that. Study! The recruiter will tell her what to study.

Check out the link that lemonelephant gave you below.  I didn't know anything about this site until the day before my son left. I wish I had known. It's so much help. When she leaves, let the moms on here help you through and ask all the questions you want. This isn't one of those sites where people bash each other and get mean. Everyone is nice and very supportive. I'm sure all questions have been asked and answered a million times. Don't worry about that. Ask away. My son has been gone only two weeks so I'm still new at this too. But I can't believe how much I know just because of the people here.

Tell her to do sit ups, push ups, and to run. She also should go to the pool and swim working on the different strokes. They have to pass a physical fitness test and swim test during the first few weeks of bc.The more she studies and is physically fit the better it will be for her.

This is a great site to find information. She needs to get physically fit and learn her ranks and Navy history. Good luck on this roller coaster.

Sounds about the same time line I had with my son last year.  He finished MEPS the end of May and then we had the whole summer together.

She will want to run, do sit ups and push ups and A LOT of it.  My son did it for months and still didn't pass the PFT the first time. She will also want to study.

Mom, just support her in everything she does in preparing.  She will have up and down days too before she leaves and the thoughts of not being able to make it through boot camp will scare her and you too.  My advice to you is just support her, encourage her and keep positive.  I tried not to cry in front of my son because I didn't want him to see the fear in me....it didn't always work out so well, but he knows I'm a big cry baby anyway.

My biggest piece of advice is to spend as much time with her as possible.  It's hard on them to leave home, but it's hard on Mom too.
