For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Im new to all this!!! Daughter leaving in 3 weeks!
I'm new to all this my daughters recruiter suggested this site to me because I was asking so many questions! He thought I could get more info from other moms! I think what I am most stressing about is travel arrangements for graduation! I have heard stories about it being changed due do any minor infraction Im confident my daughter will do just fine but refundable plane tickets are so expensive any thoughts or experiences with this!! I think knowing i will see her 8 weeks at her graduation is what is going to get me through this emotional/ full of pride time!

We have a survival guide. If you go through this, you'll will have a pretty good idea of what your recruit will be going through. Watch the videos, look at the diagram. There are links to other important sites (like the RTC site, the Boot Camp Moms groups & all the PIR groups).
It will take a little time to read this but I promise you if you take the time out to read all the stuff, you will have a much better understanding of how everything works. Don't worry if you don't get everything on the first read - please ask all the questions you want. There are no stupid questions.
Good luck to your recruits. Be patient. Stay calm. Have lots of tissue ready because those tear floodgates open almost always unexpectedly. My sailor completed his 5 year service to our country this March. This site was my life-saver.

Audra thank you so much!!! My daughter will be at MEPS in Denver as well! We live in Colorado Springs....Is the swearing in before she leaves different than the one when she signed? We attended that one but she really thinks it will be to hard to say bye there in Denver! Did she graduate on the day she informed you when she sent the first letter?? Thank you so much for the information i passed it along to my daughter she has been working out really hard lol....and with this Colorado altitiude hopefully it will give her a head start! Best wishes!

GoldnG8r..thank you I think I will rather fly into Midway and not stress about the refundable ticket issue..I wonder how far away it is from the Naval Base and if shuttles are provided I will start checking thanks so much!

Thanks so much for the info GoldnG8r...I cant locate the number for Sarge I looked, maybe im not looking in the right area? I really didnt want to rent a car but if I could get transporttion to and from Midway that would ease alot of stress!

When you go to graduation, its a good idea to be there about 4 hours before grad time. Our graduation was at 9:00am we got there at 7:30 and waited in line right up to the last minute, not organized at all. Place was full, standing room only... thought we were going to miss it. Be prepared to be in tears the whole time, it is an emotional ceremony, very beautiful.
Like the other moms said, write her all the time, keep her spirits up while she's in boot camp. My daughter is in A School now, having the time of her life. There were two phone calls, both times she was in tears telling me how hard it is, that was hard for both of us. She now says she's glad she stuck with it and its the best thing she ever did. Good luck to you and hang in there!
