First, I would like to say "hello" to my newfound family! My sailor has been gone for 3 weeks, and I think I may have cried at least 1 1/2 weeks out of that time. I know it sounds pitiful; but this is the first time that I have been away from her! I cant call, text or get to her like usual!! Please tell me how u moms get through these times? I know to think about the positive and fun times, I do and that's what gets me...missing her smile and laugh!!! Help me..Lost mom!!

Dear Jrzizhme,
It is difficult to see them go off, especially if you're not sure what to expect. My son just graduated 7/1/2011 and I found that writing to him everyday, helped me get through...It was good to know that he would be encouraged by the letters and cards. When I got the first letter, I cried because I knew how special it was for him. He said all the letters and cards got him through! Don't ever think that it is pitiful to cry..YOU'RE a MOM! :) Be encouraged to know that your daughter is in good hands and is being well taken care off even though. You should be hearing from her in a week or so - Be Encouraged...
Oh, send your daughter alot of pictures from home. You will be SO SO proud when you see her and the beautiful young lady she will have become -
I feel your pain! My daughter left for boot camp in March and I thought I had lost a child. It was awful, I sobbed and sobbed and sobbed! It DOES get better... you are almost 1/2 way there... I wrote and wrote and wrote her letters and lived for hers. We went to PIR, saw her after grad. and then a little on Sat, she flew out Sat. morning... not much time at all. Now she is in A school and it is better, we can call and text.. but it's not the same... she's not here in our daily lives anymore. :( It is a process that you have to go through and it sucks. But it is part of growing up, for them, and letting go, for us. Just know each day does get better.... it is an adjustment and let yourself "grieve".... most won't understand what you are going through... but the ladies here will! :)
Hugs,
Jenn
My daughter grad. 5/6.. she was Div. 925! :) I see your son is in the 900 div. also! :)
She is in Virginia Beach, VA for A school.. Yea, she's having a real rough time there! LOL She goes to the beach ALOT there on base! She's enjoying school, tho it is demanding. :)
Where is your son?
