Our year starts off with a mixed military group in Africa .
Hot and dusty is how it was described to me by my POC . He leads a group of Marines, Airmen, sailors and soldiers who provide communications all over the Eastern side of Africa.

Their WISH list is really very simple .They still have another 8 months in their hot ,humid and very dusty conditions . With 8-10 hours of sunshine a day they are not in need of Winter woollies that's for sure ! The majority of the personnel are married and miss family comforts ,of a letter or painting from their kids . They have plain white metal walls in their accommodation and offices ! For most part French power units of 220v , so not sure how the request for coffee makers will work out . Other than adapters .

Let's show them all some Navy Mom love ,as their pacakages will arrive in Febuary , and help make this deployment go by faster for them .

CLEANING PRODUCTS. This was first and foremost on his list . The sand and dirt gets into EVERYTHING . So ANYTHING to help with DUSTING !!!!

Drink mixes
Anything that mixes in water .
Coffee pods for Kuerig
Kuerig coffee maker
Flavored coffee creamers

Snacks~
Dried fruit
Nuts / trail mixes / cliff bars
Jerky
Wheat thins
Rice Krispy treats
Microwaveable snacks

Personal
Different smelling hand sanitizes
Hand lotions
Air freshners
Regular SOFT tissues

Entertainment
Suduko
Playing cards
Puzzle books
Board games

Moral Boosters
Pictures, cards and letters from school kids
Anything to brighten up their living conditions with different holidays in mind .

I am making handmade cards for each adoptee this month!  Should have 102 cards finished by the weekend.  I will also include decorations.

Will there be a 4th Annual Packing Party in Tampa next month?  I plan to drive down but have not seen the date posted yet.

Thanks Cookingmom. They will love your beautiful cards that you make :)
Chat soon
Just heard from our POC TIM, he said that he would like to trade some of our snow for some of their excess heat :)

We still have another 11days left until we start shipping some love their way . Is there anyone that needs any help with what they should or shouldn't be packing , having a packing party .
Please let me know if I can do anything to help .
Thank you all in advance :)

Would LOVE to send him some of our snow but I heard it doesn't travel well! LOL!!

Been busy packing boxes today!!

If Pat is going to send the snow, I'll be more than happy to send the cold air to go with it!!!  lol

Pat haven't we perfected a way to send snow yet ????
So a mason jar and a ziplock Baggie isn't the way :)

I will be busy Tuesday night after visiting a little local school that wanted to send some love :)

Cooking mom is there anyway you can post pictures of your beautiful cards that you make ?

I save leftover holiday cards for the next year.  Put them all up in a ziplock baggie.  Then it gives me a head start the next time.  What about the rest of you?

I also "collect" blank note cards throughout the year and try and include them in every box. You never know who can use them to write home .
Just wanted to tell you all about my fun afternoon visit with some eager 3 rd graders .
A new friend here invited me to her daughters 3 rd grade class yesterday . These kids were adorable . Asking all sorts of questions about Djibouti ,the military and Molly !! I think they have given you iconic status of a Santa type person :)
In the hour I was with them they drew and wrote about snow, ice skating and the " nice gifts we have collected like gator add ,adult wipes and no chokolate be coz it will be melted and a mess "!!!
It was so sweet the teacher organized a donation basket from our wish list . One little girl had just gotten her Daddy back from deployment and 2 boys Dads were still deployed ,"somewhere hot and dusty ,but it's not Arizona" they assured me :)
Made me wish my guys were small again .

I have 4 boxes ready and may have some more things for 1 or 2 more.

I have 1 box ready just waiting for my letter to print off.

Will have to check Hallmark as had a bucket with fake snowballs at Xmas time - will have to see if they have any left in clearance......
