Our year starts off with a mixed military group in Africa .
Hot and dusty is how it was described to me by my POC . He leads a group of Marines, Airmen, sailors and soldiers who provide communications all over the Eastern side of Africa.

Their WISH list is really very simple .They still have another 8 months in their hot ,humid and very dusty conditions . With 8-10 hours of sunshine a day they are not in need of Winter woollies that's for sure ! The majority of the personnel are married and miss family comforts ,of a letter or painting from their kids . They have plain white metal walls in their accommodation and offices ! For most part French power units of 220v , so not sure how the request for coffee makers will work out . Other than adapters .

Let's show them all some Navy Mom love ,as their pacakages will arrive in Febuary , and help make this deployment go by faster for them .

CLEANING PRODUCTS. This was first and foremost on his list . The sand and dirt gets into EVERYTHING . So ANYTHING to help with DUSTING !!!!

Drink mixes
Anything that mixes in water .
Coffee pods for Kuerig

Snacks~
Dried fruit
Nuts / trail mixes / cliff bars
Jerky

Microwaveable snacks

Personal
Different smelling hand sanitizes

Wouldn't that be funny??!! Bet they would have to look twice!!

GREAT IDEA Dee!  I'll try and get to my Hallmark tomorrow to check for some good ol' fake snow!

I've been MIA for awhile but I had enough things for a box for this group. I'm sending a 5# can of lemonade mix, 2 large packs of wet wipes, a couple boxes of soup, some jerky, cracker snacks, a calendar and scratch paper. I shipped today since the carrier was coming to my door for something else.  If I had read all your comments sooner, I could have cut some paper snowflakes. You can find directions online if you still have time to make some. We did this recently as a pick me up for another Navy Mom who lives in FL and she loved them!

Sounds good Lorraine and thank you .

Just wanted to let you know that between Dee, Chelita, a mom from Chelmsford and myself we will get the Green Mountain coffee that Huskerfan has been working on.  Once I get the needs from the company, we'll figure out who qualifies as being in the "greater-Boston" area and then get that coffee!  I know it'll go later than the rest, but it'll be a nice follow-up surprise.

Hi All, Hope everyone is keeping warm, safe, and cozy. Here in Chicago we are in the deep freeze and no hope for an improvement for a week! YUK!!!!

Tomorrow AM, Sally and I are heading to the post office to ship 50 boxes. (includes 4 female boxes and 4 boxes of pillowcases.)

I brought 1 to the post office yesterday.

I'm mailing one box with Wheat Thins, drink mixes, lots of St. Patricks Day decorations, and 104 hand made cards from chilly Jacksonville, FL.

Thank you Cruann and Cookingmom
I'm starting to feel excited with the love we are sending Djibouti.

Cookingmom any chance you took a pic of the cards befor mailing off . It would be great to see :)?

I checked my local Hallmark and they had none leftover - too bad as it certainly would have been a good idea.

Sheryl, I have 6 boxes to go.  Sent a kiddie pool, some beach balls & floaties, body wash, deodorant, drink mixes, DD coffee, Green Mountain K-cups, scented sachets, toothpaste, q-tips, snacks, Kleenex, sunflower seeds, tampons, hair elastics, valentine & st. pat's decorations.  I sure there was more but can't visualize it now.

I have one box of cleaning supplies, hand sanitizers, air fresheners, puzzle books, crepe paper streamers and Valentine's lunch napkins. That box will go out tomorrow!
