Given the length of "A" School and location, it sounds like your future Sailor's rating is going to be CTN; if so, sometime between now and the end of BC, join CTN, Cryptology ~ CTI ~ CTM ~ CTN ~ CTR ~ CTT ~, Sailors at Corry Station holding or in school, and Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!!,

Yes, CTN. Thank you so much for the info :)

You are very welcome. The Rating Information Card for CTN can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ctn.pdf. Be aware that you will be receiving at least one additional security clearance call when she is at BC--good news is you'll get an extra call, bad news is it will be all business--no chit chat.

Now I feel like a complete idiot, but I don't know what any of that means!

Well crap, now I'm gonna cry again lol. Geeze. I'm a total control freak who has no clue what the heck is going on......I feel like such a big baby....sigh.

Thank you so much for  the link. Lots to learn.

It will get better and you will be much more knowledgeable when she gets out of BC than you are now.  Hang in there and ask anything you need to and if something doesn't make sense ask for more info.

For now, spend time with her and enjoy the time with her before she leaves and help her with what she will let you help her with. Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month Before Your Future Sailor Leaves for....

Are you going to MEPS to see her sworn in on the 26th?  If so, we'll probably see you there!  I've been told we can go to the hotel the night before after they sign in and take him to dinner, but need to confirm it with his recruiter and find out approximate times at MEPS the next day and when their flight leaves.  Also been told that you can meet them at the airport to wait for their flight, but have to confirm that as well.

How was HS graduation?  Pretty emotional for me, of course on Saturday, I broke down talking to a soldier in a store....and at the grocery store and the sporting goods store yesterday....and on the way into work this morning talking to my dad on the phone.....geez........

Hey Cos333333,

If you were talking to me, then heck yes I will be there when she swears in! I was there in September too. I will be there for everything I can be there for lol.

Graduation was awesome. Here sister took her away that same night to the Nashville airport. They went to The Dominican Republic (older daughter's grad prezzie to her).

They are coming back today! So excited.

I'd love to meet you at meps. I need to find out exactly how it all works. Not sure what day exactly the swear in and leave. Sigh

Laurin's Mom,

I sent you a private message.  Check your inbox.

Hi Kristi!  I understand how you are feeling, as are all the other ladies on here whose SR is leaving soon.  So proud but hurting too. We'll get through it, but going to be rough along the way.  That's why we are all here for each other.

Where is your son leaving from? and what will he be training for after bootcamp?  We are from Tennessee and our SR will be staying in Great Lakes for A school for HT.

There is no such thing as "B" School any more. Apprentice Technical Training is at GL after PIR for those who are Sonar Technician – Surface (STG) in AEF. Then "A" School is in San Diego, CA at Naval Mine and Anti-Submarine Warfare Training Center.  Join STG (Sonar). He will have about 6 weeks at GL and about 10 weeks in San Diego. The Rating Information Card for STG can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/stg.pdf. If he did not sign up for 6 years, then he will go straight to San Diego after BC and will not do ATT at GL.

You will have a short time with him after PIR (15 minutes to an hour) and then he will check in at the TSC and then will call you to pick him up for Liberty. The section on those staying in GL within PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend will tell you all about it.  He needs to get used to calling it ATT and "A" School.

20 days! Can you believe it's almost here?! Sad, happy, proud, scared all rolled into one! How's everyone else doing?
