my son leaves Monday July 21st. my heart is broke as we are very close. I pray I get through this
I dropped my son off on wednesday july 16th. It is very strange not having him here and especially not being able to talk to him or know what's going on with him. I am very glad that he is doing something so great with his life but at the same time i do miss him and am worried as heck. Plus he was acting very distant before he left. I suppose that is normal. The recruiter said if we call him this monday he will have his address for us.
Dropped my son off 21st. funny you mentioned the distant thing as I felt the same way. I believe they were shutting down somewhat to gear themselves up for the leave, and my son knows I'm emotional anyways always have been. Everyone tells me not to worry about him as the navy will take good care of him, but as mom guess i feel no one can better than mom, and i am about to find out otherwise I guess. Glad to hear your thoughts and I now have 2 navy sisters. I pray for us and keeps our boys and {girls} safe.
Hi! My son is on the same Ship/Div as your's. And I'm with you! Though I am surprised that I seem to be handling it better than I thought I would. We dropped him off on the 7th, and I was sort of settling into what I've come to think of as my 'new normal' and then he called, and I was a weepy mess all over again!

My SR left on June 15 -- and she is doing great! Write, write, write! When my daughter started talking about possible military service, I was proud that she would even consider it, but she was unsure of what branch. I suggested we pray about it and I was sure God would give us an answer if this was her calling that He wanted for her. Three days later the NAVY called her! It's a God thing! Two months later she passed her MEPS and worked with her recruiter on the DEP plan. Her recruiters were awesome! PIR will be August 15 and we are counting down the days. We are always so happy to get mail, and in reading those letters I can see the change and the maturity she is developing by being a part of something bigger than herself. It was hard to see her go (she is the youngest of 4 children) but my joy is in the Lord and seeing the gifts he gave me in my children grow and follow His plan for them. Stay strong!
Dropped mine off yesterday I almost thought I wrote this because it's everything I feel too. He saluted the flag inside the recruite center for drop off I turned around gave him a kiss and hug said talk tonight {while he still has his phone} waent to the car and cried all the way home, harder than I thought would be. When he did call stayed strong said I was proud and write soon. He is my only child so hard but wants what best for him.
Go ahead and cry! Holding it in is harder on your immune system. My only child, a daughter, left for BC July 1. I understand how you feel. Start writing letters right now and you'll have some to put in the mail when you get the form letter. I am copying jokes and funny pictures from the internet and facebook, printing them out and sending them to my daughter. Her cat is also "writing letters" to her as well as sending pictures I print out on copy paper. I have also found that keeping a journal helps as do talking with other Navy Moms who understand what I am feeling. You will be ok and so will your son. Print out a calendar, put it on your frig, and start crossing off the days until PIR.
thank you so hard need the support and anything I can do contact me. We shall survive
Thank you for your support I will start finding fun pictures that he will relate with and I to planned on sending a letter from his cat named Onyx. Actually starting to feel a tad better as I was home today and had no one watching me with the gut wrenching tears kind of relieves it.
What a great day it will be when they proudly stand before us and
god ready to serve our country. Talk soon and Thanks again
