Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Kiana called home last week
What a surprise it was to hear from my daughter last week and a blessing. I have not wanted to leave my house since she left for bootcamp for fear that she might call. I was waiting for my husband to get home with a letter from her when he called and said she was on the phone. We did a three-way phone call and I cried like a baby. Her voice was so beautiful to hear. We talked for thirty minutes and they were filled with joy. She sounded better than her first letter did. She is one determined young lady and I am so proud of her. Now each letter we get from her is more upbeat since we talked and I am feeling better about leaving my house. One truly does not know how amazing a thirty minute phone call can be for a worried and nervous mother of a brave eighteen year old daughter can be until it happens to you. Grateful for her and this site. Thanks to all the other NAVY MOMS out there. Shelley, proud Navy Mom!

However, please, never use your sailor's last name for security reasons. (If you can't edit it out, copy it, repost it without her last name. Thanks for keeping our sailors safe.)

Sorry, like a dummy I have not been thinking clearly as of late. Now I dont know how to fix it but thanks so much for the advice. I am new to all of this.

Click on "Options" in the upper right of your original post. Then click on "Edit Discussion" in the drop down options. Then make the change to remove your last name and her last name--you just have put your cursor next to those words and then delete them; you don't have to copy and repost. Then click Save at the bottom.

I would sooooooo love to hear my sons voice! How long was she in before you got the call?? My first 2 letters from him were very depressing.......I too hope he is getting more upbeat! It's killing me to have my baby gone! :( Happy for you tho.....has she Graduated now??

She was in for three weeks and we heard through other parents that our phone call from her was a long one. I know the feeling about the first couple of letters. Soooooo hard not to get in my car and go get her. Each letter has gotten better though and she sounds like she is starting to like it. No, she hasn't graduated yet but she will on Oct. 19th. God, I can't wait to see her. Hang in there. Time starts moving faster the closer it gets to graduation. I will be keeping you in my thoughts. This site and talking to others has helped me through. Good Luck to you, your family, and your brave sailor.
