My son I'd headed out on March 13th. I'm nervous and excited. But mostly I want to enjoy every last moment with him. We are taking a family vacation over Christmas and are visiting lots of family. Any ideas of other things to do? All the posts on this site are so helpful.

My youngest leaves on March 13th ~ and while I am a very proud mom, I am also a wreck right now.

I am so glad to have found navy4moms ~ knowing there are other mothers out there going through the same thing makes it a little bit easier to get through `and the advice from all is so much appreciated.

Hi Fraiseblonde ~ so nice to know there is another nervous and excited mom out there - It is nice not to feel so alone.

We had a party for him and are now taking care of all the last details.  This site has been so helpful!  I am so sad to see him go, but I have never seen him so happy and committed to do something.  I so proud of him.  He is going to be a fire controlman.  I'm sure there will be many tears over the next few weeks, which have already started.  I will be thinking of all the other families out there sending their kids off.  :)

I know how ya'll are feeling. We were told our only child, son Jacob, 20.. would leave for BC this Thursday March 14th, then we found out a few days ago that he must report to his recruiters office at noon Wed 13th, where he'll go to New Orleans, then leave from there for BC on the 14th.. So, we feel like we were jipped a day with our son. It's Monday and I will have to say goodbye to him in 2 days. I spoke w another Mom from MS awhile back who had a son leaving for New Orleans on the 13th... at the time I thought mine was a day behind hers...we're here in Baton Rouge, our son is also leaving on the same day the 13th to New Orleans and then to A school in Pensacola...I'd love to speak with anyone else who has a son leaving on the 13th....We're newbee's to all of this and also emptynesters, we'd certainly feel alot better if we heard from someone with a son who will be there with ours, just peace of mind.  Thank God for N4M, the information we have gotten from everyone here has been so helpful, informative and correct, unlike the very little and incorrect info from his recruiter.

Hey choule. My son leaves on the 13 out if Baltimore Maryland but I am originally from mobile Alabama. My son has A school same place as boot camp. That's nice your sons A school is close to home. Hopefully they meet each other I boot camp. I know it's hard with them leaving but I am so proud of my son. The emotions are crazy.

My son is leaving from Baltimore on the 13th also and will A school in Great Lakes.

My son is reporting to his recruiter today about 10 am to go to MEPS in Baltimore. His recruiter is in golden ring. Tomorrow we will head to see him swear in. So happy to have a place to talk with others who are going through the same thing. Now even better someone close to home going through same experience.

We will be at the swearing in tomorrow in Baltimore also.  He just left for the recruiter with my dad, as my 3 year old has the stomach bug, hoping we don't get it so we can be there tomorrow.  I made sure to say good bye just in case something would happen.  This is so hard.  I kept telling myself not to think about it because it wasn't today and now it is today!!!!!  So glad to have found someone else close to home as well.  Maybe we will meet each other tomorrow!!!  My name is Jennifer.

My husband too my son to recruiter. We have had the stomach bug going around here also. I think we are almost over it and hoping to be there tomorrow. Funny my husband was fussing at me not to cry. Lol. He came back from dropping our son off bawling like a baby. My name is Carla. Hope to meet tomorrow if everyone is well.

My dad is retired Navy so I am sure he is talking the recruiters ear off, this at least makes me laugh.  I have been crying even though I will be going to have dinner with him tonight and see him tomorrow this just seems so final.  Can't believe my baby is all grown up.

I am sure he is talking there ear off. Lol. My brother n law is retired navy, he can talk as well. Would live to go have dinner but don't want him to see us upset. He is really excited to be joining. Could not be more proud. Gonna miss him.

Just joined N4M and my son left on the 13th also. Also got cheated a day when they said he was to leave on the 14th and got him by surprise also. We had a 3 hour notice. Anyhow, saw his swearing in yesterday (3/12) out of Los Angeles and it was one of the hardest things in life I had to do. I am extremely proud of him, but I feel so empty at the same time. I did not want him to see me cry, so I got out of sight after a HUGE hug. I missed his call this morning at 12:30 a.m. PST and was told he would call again in two weeks.  I  also have a 13 year old son, but this is my first born and I took care of him for 18 years and now it comes to an end. Reading everyone's experiences here had made me realize I'm not alone and it will get better.
