My boy leaves in just a few short days. He's not a boy, of course, he's a grown man setting off to a wonderful adventure and future.  But when I see him, even though he towers over me, he's still that little fella playing Legos.  I am proud as can be of this young man!  I wish the mom-tears would go away, I want him to see the admiration & pride, not these silly tears.  Farewell Party is tomorrow and then the final countdown!

Anyone else have theirs heading out next week?

Haven't heard a peep. I don't think we will know until we get the form letter next week.

:(

Hello Nahuh!  You are in the right place, we had the kids leave this week, and it will be a few weeks before we hear from them next.

The good thing is- next week we will get a letter telling us where to write them, and when PIR is, so we can start planning our trips to see our new and awesome sailors!

It's helping me so much to have moms in the same boat to share, cry and laugh with!

Wait on The Form Letter even if the recruiter does give you the address before sending letters. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC will let you know what is happening and what to expect.

Aimee, Did you receive your box today?  We received the box, now to wait for the form letter.

No box.... I kept looking, Monday I guess!  Did you do ok when you looked through his stuff?

I actually did okay...maybe better than okay..Of course I had to laugh because it was my sons true nature..nothing folded, dirty underwear on top, and his new iphone carefully wrapped with his dirty socks and stuffed in his old tennis shoes..sweaty and all...I loved that everything smelled of him.  Yours will be there on Monday I am sure.

Tee hee! Save the phone with stinky socks!!  I am so glad to hear you are doing good as the days pass!

Stinky boys- oh how I hope he threw away the underwear and socks!!

Hi Amy- I got the box today. It was nice to see a glimpse of him.

I miss him. Such a sweet heart.

I saw your post about working out while they are in boot camp- we decided to do a boot camp challenge..... we are each going to try and loose 10% before PIR.  I've been trying sooooo hard since Wednesday and I've gained 3 lbs- ughhhh!  Lol.  I'm going to keep after it- I want my son to be proud of our efforts.

How was your weekend??

I am so glad that you got your box!  So weird that us mom's can get so excited about sweaty clothes.  Were your sons Jeans rolled up too?  I took a picture to keep.

I spent the weekend cleaning and painting his room.  It was a much needed task and one that I enjoyed.

Keep up your boot camp challenge.  I ended up having a GI bug over the weekend so not alot of workouts occurred, but I will be back on it tomorrow am.

Can't wait to get our letters!

You will be receiving the form letter with that info by the end of next week.

My daughter left the 17th also. Got her box yesterday. Wow..the emotions....tears..
