Hey Karen -

Do you know if Joe will be going to South Carolina? I thought that was where all of the Nuke's go? I know that is where Jacob is going!!! For 2 years!!! That is how long their school last.

Question: I have only noticed about 4 of us on this site that are from the same ship and division! Me, you, cas15 and Rhonda? Are there more and I have just missed them?
My son left the 22nd out of Cleveland. He just graduated. It has been really tough letting him go already. I got the phone call 12:15 that night. He had taken his cell phone with him and had been texting and he did call earlier when he landed in Chicago. He sounded happy earlier. The official phone call was very short and to the point. I got "the box" yesterday, on my birthday. That was rough.
We got our box yesterday as well. Now waiting on the form letter. Mys on graduated in May and this is really his first time away from home. What Ship and division is your son in? Chris is Ship3 div 312. It does get easier--write lots of letters. I got Chris' address from the recruiter and have already mailed him letters which seems to make things easier. Just remember what is boring every day news to us is interesting to them becuase it is from home. He will probably be in the same graduating group as my son chris which looks to be 09/17. You should join that group and maybe the boot camp for moms group too--both are very informative.
I did get his address from the recruiter. The recruiter called the next morning with his address. He is Ship 3 div 311. I have been writing letters and I did print an article about his favorite sports team to send him. I will join the other groups. Thanks
dgar0727 You should be able to get the address from the recruiter and from that we can figure out his PIR date (Pass In Review=graduaton) Most likely you're in the same group as Bobbie (chris'smom)
my son robert left this past tuesday, July 27, out of Portland Maine, although we have had the past 8 months to prepare for this week, I can not honestly say I am any more prepared for the next 8 weeks or so then I was 8 months ago. I am very proud of my son and I know this has been his choice since he was very young. I have no doubt in my mind that he will do well and accomplish all he sets out to do. But for some weird reason I am very nervous about all this even though I knew this day would come for a long time...

Tina- My son has been gone a week and it seems like a month. I know what you mean we had a year to prepare but it did not make it any easier. The first milestone is receiving "the box". It is getting easier since now we are counting down to PIR which should be sept 17th.
