Just wanting to touch base with any other mom's whose child is leaving on that day for boot camp.  I would like to have other mom's to talk to and compare notes with that are going to be going through the same thing at the same time.

Don't worry about the heat.  When it is too hot, they aren't allowed to PT and outside activities are limited.  This goes for A-school as well.  My son worked construction during the summer before going to BC and he was a LOT safer in BC than he was on those construction sites.  When there are heat alerts, they are taken seriously and your SRs are not put in danger.

Think of everything as a step, with each step bringing you closer to your child's goal of being a US Sailor.  First, they have to leave (check), then the box, the form letter, a REAL letter, a call, more letters/calls, BS21, I'm a Sailor call, and then PIR!!!  :)  Your journey has begun!  God bless you all.

My son is 18 and left for BC on the 1st with an arrival on the 2nd.....
Hello my boyfriend shiped today Aug 3. It def harder then i thought it would be. How are you ladies handling it?

Hello again, I just recieved my call from Josh about 30 minutes ago. He arrived safely and sounds good! Grab that phone calls will be coming in shortly! have a great night.

My husband left yesterday for bootcamp from San Diego, Ca... I got the "Im here" call today at 6:30 their time... my heart sunk. Its officially started!
Ok ladies I received my I made is safely I love you phone call...he sound fine, I am just ready for it to be over.
Our son  arrived at Great Lakes on August 2nd as well, He is from Ohio.
Good morning ladies so today is my first day back to work since my boyfriend left to bootcamp. It is def going to be hard didn't get much sleep after his phone call... this is really hard.
I totally agree...it is very hard. I think the "no contact" for the next couple of weeks is what makes it so hard.....I have never gone a day without seeing or talking to my son and I think thats what gets me the most. Thank GOD for the loving support of my family and my closest friends. But being on this website truly helps me too. I can see that what I am feeling is normal and there are others who are feeling the same brings some comfort..... Zach has been gone since Monday and I am still crying. But I think I may have been this way if he went off to college some where too.
Yes it is hard and you are right being on this website sharing my feelings with people who are going through the same thing is def helping. I try to stay postive and and know that he wouldn't want me crying... I alsokeep in mind that he is living out his dream and that makes me smile.
Spent most of yesterday wondering what he was doing all day.  Will probably spend today doing the same thing.  Thank you ladies for all of your responses and support - it is nice to know that we can all stick together and share our thoughts.  I know that we can get through this together and see our sailors at graduation in 8 more weeks.  Remember they are strong men but we are also strong women.
Hello aggiemom I too find my self wondering what he is doing.. but one thing I do to help me is I have a picture of him by my night stand and before I go to bed I say good night and I love you and in the morning I say good morning have a good day and be strong. It def isn't easy I still find my self crying too but I know I need to get over this esp for our dog who is really having a hard time with him not being home. I am here and you are def not going through this alone I am here if u need to talk.
