Hi. My son leaves for boot on Oct. 28th in Great Lakes. He is preparing for his 2nd physical test(failed the 1st) He goes to the gym and works out a lot. Will they not take him if he doesn't pass this test? Unfortunatly we do not live in the same state, so it's hard to map his progress. I feel left out of the loop.
oh my, Just 26 more days. im pretty much freakin out. :(
but im so excited at the same time.
i feel very unprepared, but i guess
im as prepared as you can be..
i guess its just the fear of the unknown.
hope you ladies are spending quality time
with your future sailors.
Thanks for the encouragement. I'm glad there are so many parents going through the same things and have a place to go to talk about it. I'm not well versed on the language, but am trying. After BC, my son will be in Pensacola to be an aircraft ordinanceman.
Thanks MI Lori., Im sure the party will be a great success, dont be nervous, enjoy every moment of it, I still find myself thinking of " special moments' from the party. we had over 65 people (all immediate family) at my house for Stephen's party, he is typically a very laid back kind of Kid but I was so proud of him, the way he interacted with everyone, one thing I did ask of him was that his friends not come until after 9pm, and it worked as he was able to spend time with great aunts, uncle, aunts uncle and cousins. a few things I did for the party was go to the library and got about 10 books on the navy, adult books, children books, it was amazing that it prompted so much conversation about naval history, we also went to the recuiters office and raided it, got pins, key chains, cups, mini footballs, soccer balls , frisbies - they were very generous, i also sent up a area where his family could right him a short letter that I will send to him in boot camp . I researched Famous Naval Quotes, printed them out and places one at each table, along with photos of stephen from birth to high school gradation, the table scapes came out beautiful.
You have some awesome ideas, I love having the guest write short letters that can be sent when they get to BC, I've ordered white sailor hats for everyone to wear at my son's party (thought it would be quirky cute thank goodness we are close to Halloween the hats were easy to find) I've also bought Navy t-shirts for me and my other children to wear at the party. I think I will look up Naval quotes as well.....Thanks for the great ideas
Yes Sportsmom, I got the same thing from my son tonight too, he was scheduled to take his test today, he told me an email was sent to all recuiter stations this morning, stating no more PT at the dep meetings and no more IFA prior to leaving for BC, sadly I believe somthing happened to a recuit while preparing for the test, My heart go out to the family of this child.
I saw your notes and called my son immediately. He went in for his IFA today and was told they were discontinued along with the PT...same as your kids. He was told someone died. He believes that with all the heat lately, someone wasn't watching out for water intake "proper hydration" and was overcome. I agree pmgcakes, absolutely heartbreaking!!

It also puts all the kids trying to get ready to go in a tough situation. PT with the recruiters has gotten my son to a point that he is physically prepared to pass the tests, and with out it he would have had a much more difficult time. He has a month, so it is all on him now.
My son went to his PT yesterday and it was cancelled there was no explanation, wow, I am so sad to hear this news.
Are you sure it's not PFA? Physical Fitness Assessment
Sara, My son enlisted in Central CA too, they are going to the MEPS in San Jose on the 27th. Is your son too? I don't live with my son either, he is with his dad. I was thinking about trying to see him at the hotel in San Jose (I think I read that you can do that somewhere on N4M).

How positive are we that PIR will be on Dec. 17th. I am already trying to make arrangements to go back.
Betsy...cool I'll have to add that to my navy acronym list.
ill be there the same day as her.
:) yes seeing that its october
is quite scarry.
i hope that the holiday situation i 2 weeks also.
but i have been told that by all the recruiters
at my sation, along with a dad of a sailor
who graduated the same time in 2007
and thats what his son got.
so i sure hope its the same for us.
have a wonderful day.
