Hi, I'm Courtney! I'll be leaving to head to Great Lakes on May 1. My rate is EN and I am married. I was wondering about some of the best places to try and get stationed after A-School. I have heard that since I am married then going overseas won't be an option for me and my spouse right out of A-school. Is this true? If it is true what are some nice state side places to request? Also if my husband wouldn't be joining me overseas right away would the navy be willing to send just me (he would pay his own way to move after making sure his business is being run properly with out having to come back for about six months)?

Are they just for recruits or when they are in school also? we sent some with him but he won't have enough for school.

Thanks for posting.

He will be able to have his cell phone at A School.

They are for any military in need.  If you need some, just let me know.  Send me a friend request or visit the site and email me.  Thank you and especially him for his service!!!

I am telling as many people as possible that if you have your wisdom teeth you might get them pulled before bc. lots of guys have infections and in a lot of pain! So if you have any they will pull them!

They don't always pull them (my Sailor still has his) and they take good care of those who do need to have them removed, including appropriate pain meds.  Did your son get an infection or are you just starting/spreading a rumor?

not trying to spread rumors reading what is on here and other sites. i say get it done before since having to deal with pulling of teeth plus the physical and stress of no sleep with a good chance of infection that might result in getting recycled...just play it safe doing it before. i don't see what it matters if people choose to do it ahead of time if they know about it.

plus on navy depp they tell you about it also so what is the issue here?

It is fine to say that you suggest that they do it ahead of time because a lot of them will have them removed if they have them, but to say "lots of guys have infections and in a lot of pain!" is just not true.  The recruits who do have them removed at the RTC are taken good care of and very few, if any, are delayed due to having their wisdom teeth removed at BC.

well there are more moms than not posting that their SR are in pain because of having their teeth pulled so that is what i put.

and we all know once in bc they do not want to be recycled get it done a head of time.

what does it matter to you what i say about it? just look below from ronny and anna what they said, you going to fuss at them for posting what their son said?

There are hundreds, or maybe even thousands, of recruits who have their wisdom teeth removed at the RTC each year. Of those, we only hear of a few who have problems. It is very rare that having wisdom teeth removed causes a recruit to be set back. The recruits receive 2 days Sick in Quarters (SIQ) to sleep and recover. They are supervised to be sure that they are not bleeding and that they are drinking and taking meds as they should. They then have at least one additional day of limited activity until they are healed enough to be fit for duty.
I think this is something we will have to agree to disagree about.

sorry i have read enough on here to know to be as physical as one needs and add in the amount of stress they are under it is not an ideal place to have teeth pulled.

i don't know why you have taken this to this level but i am done.

My son is in bc now, and he had to get his wisdom teeth pulled there as well... He said that he had to stay in bed for 2 days afterwards.  He said anymore than that, he would have been sent back a week.  He also said that now he completely hates the dentist.  So it might be wise to get them pulled before you go......Also, I have some phone cards if anyone needs them....friend request me and ask or go to callsforrecruits.org.  thanks.....

However, if you have your teeth pulled before boot camp, your recruiter must know, and must document it.  Any complications, and you must get a medical waiver.  Also be very careful with any prescription narcotics you would receive from a civilian dentist, you'd pop positive on a drug tests.   Talk it over with your recruiter first.

Be aware the Navy dentist at Great Lakes are very, very good at removing wisdom teeth, they do hundreds, if not thousands.

Personally, I'd suck it up and do it in boot camp.
