Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Actually, I would think that he goes to the hotel on Sunday and to MEPS on Monday since MEPS is open on weekdays and not the weekend and then to the RTC on Monday after being sworn in at MEPS.
You may wish to join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in May. You will meet others with loved ones leaving that day/week who may be in the same TG and have PIR together. Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month Before Your Future Sailor Leaves for.... I also suggest you join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and New Members Stop Here and check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions there.
Your future Sailor may want to join http://www.navydep.com to learn the ins and outs from the DEP point of view. Craig runs that and will steer him to some good links on there.

Hi Julio congrats! I am curious my son graduating on July 3rd I was wondering how much Liberty time he will have before his flight the next day any idea?

I'm not Julio (and he is off-line right now), but the new Sailors generally have to be back at the RTC somewhere between 7 and 9 pm--8 is the average. He will know the time and you need to drop him off about 30 minutes before that to make sure he has time to make it to his ship before his Liberty expires--On time is late in the Navy. If he has watch at some point that day, you will need to make sure he is back for that and then pick him up afterwards if there is still Liberty remaining. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will give you more info on how to plan your weekend. I invite you to join that group while you are there.

I'm not sure if your son and my boyfriend are in the same training group, but my boyfriend was placed in a hotel room Sunday then went to meps may 13. That Monday after meps he was flown to Great Lakes. I was wondering if you knew when they are able to start sending and receiving letters. Thankx alot !

You can start sending them letters as soon as you have the address with their ship number etc on it. When I was in bootcamp we got to send letters out every Sunday. We were able to receive letters daily though

Ke'neisha, your SR most likely would have been able to write for the first time this past Sunday when he had holiday routine for the first time. He would also have been able to write on Monday since it was a federal holiday. Mail went out on Tuesday this week rather than Monday becuase of the holiday, so expect a "real" letter later this week. If he did not have to wait for others to fill the division, his first Mail Call probably would have been either last Friday or yesterday. Mail Call is every weekday (M-F) evening except for holidays once a Recruti Mail Petty Officer is trained. Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will tell you more about that. I invite you to join that group while you are there and to check out the other Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) as well. By now you know his PIR date and it should either be 07/03/2013 or 07/12/2013, so join either PIR 07/03/2013 TG 34 - 11 Divisions (247-256, and 934) or PIR 07/12/2013 TG 35 – 9 Divisions (257-264, and 935) to connect with others with loved ones training with your SR.

Sounds like they are in the same group. I talked with my son last Saturday. He said they receive mail daily but only had time to write on Sundays. 7 to 1 is their liberty. Myson is in Ship 09.

7 am to 1 pm on Sundays is holiday routine, not Liberty.
