This group however is just for those that have a loved one leaving in May. Even though everyone is welcome!

Diane C. I can totally relate to the computer kinda guy. My son was the most unfit, on the scrawny side, kid and very into computers. That is until he joined the Navy and decided he wanted special forces. Now, we laugh, because he is totally fit and is the PT leader of his DEP group of about 25 recruits. It's amazing what a little direction and incentive will do. Remind your son how much easier RTC will be if he is in the best physical shape he can get in before shipping out.

My niece started running the night before she had to do her IFA and wondered why she didn't do as well as she thought she would! LOL!

I am so excited for her. May does seem so far away, but I am just glad she is here for the holidays. And she is making me take her to see New Moon tonight at the midnight showing. We wouldn't have been able to do that if she had gone in August like originally planned. I can't wait for PIR...I expect to see a completely different person after BC. And the Nimitz will be back then so my friend should be able to go to PIR too, so having to wait until May has worked out very well.

Hi Julie, my son aslo starts boot camp on May 11th, He is going in as a AECF-ET \. May seems so far away but befor you know it it will be here at least they go in after mother's day so famliy can spend sometime with them. He is not really aware of how fast it will be here and thinks I am nagging him about his DEP work and PT. He is more the computer guy than the physical type. He will be an E3 after basic.

Thank you JLC. My niece is ABH and going in as an E3. She wanted HM but was happy to get ABH and get to leave in May. Otherwise, she may have had to wait until October. She was in DEP last year, but had some problems in school and decided that she wanted to follow another course. She would have left in August of this year, but I it's guess better late than never. I have a friend on the Nimitz who has helped to encourage her and I am so glad she has come back around to this. I know she will do well now.

Welcome Julie, my son leaves May 19th. What is your niece's rate? My son is going in as HM (corpsman) and is hoping to get Field Medic after A school. Please everyone, forgive me if I don't use the right Navy "language" still getting used to it all so if I use a wrong term, just let me know. It still seems like a long time away (6 months), but I know it will go fast.

Nicoly2004, that's hard...the only reason my son is really going to college is to stay busy. There is no work and if it weren't for college, he'd sit at home all day playing video games. It's great that you already have your degree, you must be going in as an E2 or E3?

I wish I had something to keep me busy till May. I already have my college degree and it's impossible to find a job. Oh well I guess.

Welcome, Nicoly2004. The group hasn't been very active but time seems to be flying by and it's only 7 months away before your Navy life starts. My son hates the wait, but he is staying semi-busy with college. He started out wanting to be MA, but when they offered Corpsman, he changed his mind and he will be going in as HM.
